KGSI KitchenAid Range - Instructions

I searched similar problems on the web and learned that a whole lot of people have Kitchenaid stove with the same problem. They all stated that the thermostat burns when self cleaning. Since technician wanted $190.00, I decided to change it myself. The part cost me $40.00. To instal the thermostat, I removed the panel at the back of ... I am posting this to tell people that anyone can do this.

Apparently this is a common problem (defect) with KitchenAid ovens of various models. I am not a repairman, but replacing the thermostat was very simple. I just looked at the tech sheet on the range and tested the gas valve with an ohm meter to see how much resistance I had and compared it to the tech sheet and noticed the gas valve was bad. So I replaced it with a new one from part select which arrived very fast. It was quite easy to replaced it.

The glass caps that cover the bulbs screw out by hand. Then, it was just like changing any other light bulb. I put the caps back on, and magically, we could once again see our food cooking. We had asked other repair companies to replace the bulbs when we had other major work done, but they either didn't want to take the time to get a part ... Easy, pulled out the old dis-colored racks and slid the new ones in. I was VERY happy with the quick receipt of my order. If I ever need parts again,this is where I will go

I removed the bottom gasket retainer , single screw, with a screwdriver. The old gasket just pulls away. I cleaned the area under the old gasket with soap and water. I installed the new gasket whcih easily slips in place with the already installed retainer wires into the pre drilled holes.

Viola. Lokks like new.

part did not fix the problem, may be gas regulater ,well if you are changing this part,not to bad .remove the knobs bottom screws and two side screws front cover flips up and off ,the ignition control is in front of you right side ,remove the one screw that is looking at and everything slides out .i turned off the gas and elec and removed ... I went online to read the instruction. Started doing it and was done in less than 30minutes. It was easy and the replacement part was inexpensive and got shipped in really fast. I probably would have spent hundreds of dollars if i called a handy man to repair it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I have a Kitchenaid stove that completely shuts off in the middle of the self clean cycle. I did some research on the internet and discovered that it was the thermostat (aka thermal fuse). The part is fairly expensive around $45. No one in town had the part so I had to order from Partselect.com (which was very easy to find). The repair was simple, all you need to do is connect the new thermostat in place of the old one. Dont forget to unplug the stove before you get started. After replacing the part the stove worked just fine. From what I can tell from the research this is a common problem and there is no permanent fix. We are resigned to not using the self clean mode on the stove which is a drag, but it is cheaper than buying a new stove.

This is a known defect with KitchenAid ovens. If your range is out of warranty, KitchenAid will do nothing to help. (They should really issue a recall). Read more on PartSelect.com. I probably saved myself $200. My husband did the repair and said it was really easy. It took him 10 - 15 minutes. He took a picture of the back of the oven with the back panel off, showing where the part is located, but looks like I'm not able upload images. All you need is to be able to pull your range out to get to the back of it and a screwdriver to remove some screws and replace the thermostat. Once the part was replaced, the control panel came back on, the oven unlocked and is now working again!! I will not use Self-Clean again - that is for sure!

real easy one to take care of, when the drawer broke I thought it was more than what it really was, after looking at it and seeing the wheel was gone I ordered the part and it came very quick, drawer is now fixed.

No repair - just open the box and put the rack in my oven - voila - repaired!!! BUT let me tell you PartSelect sent the right part at the best price and I received it even ealier than I expected!!! I can DEFINITELY recommend these people and I do that very sparingly!!!! THANX!

The thermostat blew during the oven self-cleaning cycle (apparently it's a common problem). Take off a few panels in the back of the range with a screw driver. I found the correct sized light bulb to fit the top portion of my double oven. It fit perfectly and just in time for Thanksgiving.

I called the place that I ordered the range from and set up a repair date. The repairman came out and diagnosed the problem and had to order the part (Valve). I noticed on the repair ticket the cost of $172.00. I checked out this site and found it a whole lot cheaper. I called the repairman and advised that I found the part cheaper and ex ... Read more pected them to tell me they would adjust the price of the repair. They told me to order the part and let them know when it came in. I got it two days after I ordered it. I called the repairman who came out and installed it.
