Oven light would not work--faulty socket
10 of 12 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Delores from Warren, MN
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers, Socket set
After removing the back of the stove, the old light socket was fairly easy to remove. The new socket slipped in place and the wires reattached and now the oven has a light again. A very simple process--especially for someone who's not an expert in repairing appliances.

Accidently allowed the oven door to close without slowing it down. Result was a fractured inner door glass.
10 of 13 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Robert from Deming, WA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
Removed the door just like you would do when cleaning the oven; I placed the door on a blanket on the kitchen table and carefully disassembled the door. There were more parts than I expected so keeping track of where everything went was important. I might add that without the use of my cordless variable speed drill motor removal of some o f the screws would have been difficult. Adding the weight of the drill motor with sufficient push power I was able to tap the switch which "snapped" the screw loose. Don't think I could have done it with a hand type screw driver without stripping the head. Knowing your tools is very important.

Interior glass broke when broiler pan was left in oven during cleaning
7 of 10 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Mary from Durham, NC
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Screw drivers
Read all others' directions and suggestions. Screw loosening spray was essential to remove the bracket holding the broken piece. Print out the blow-up showing parts from website. Read directions on removing and replacing door in original manual. Lay oven door on counter top front side up with hinges hanging over edge. I prefer a manual s crewdriver - less risk of stripping screws. Start by removing screws at bottom edge. Next, side strips and then top piece with handle. Removing layers, being careful to keep them in order and turned the right way. Note the center piece of glass is held in place only by the parts around it so everything has to be tight and aligned. Put back together in reverse order with replacement glass part. My 10+ year old oven is as good as new. BTW I am a 67 year old woman.

Been looking for grate pads for 10 years and finally found you site and part # WPL 814323.
Wasn't sure that they would fit but couldn't even find new grates so decide to try them --Fit perfect.
Kitchen aide stove top gas with round grates. Used the drill to clean out the holes with broken pads still embedded. With clean holes the new pads just screwed in like the originals. Thank you very much

Oven wouldn't heat above 300 deg. F.
5 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Barry from WOODSTOCK, GA
  • Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
I tried taking the sensor out, but the plastic coupling behind the oven wall had melted and the melted piece was larger than the opening in the oven wall. I had to use a mini-screwdriver to chip away at the melted coupling before it would fit through the opening. That took forever...but it finally worked and the repair went quickly (15 minutes) after that.

Broiler would not ignite
6 of 8 people found this instruction helpful.
  • William from Covington, GA
  • Really Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
There were two screws holding the igniter in place but one was stripped and had to be cut off with the Dremel tool. Then it was a matter of removing 3 screws from the back of the oven and disconnecting the two wires to the igniter. The description for the igniter implies that there will be screws but I supplied my own to finish the job.
