one of the cooktop burners would not ignite
3 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Ronnie F from McKinney, TX
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers, Wrench set
removed knobs, burnners, top cover plate, disconnecte two gas lines from burnners to controls, lifted burnner bar, unscrewed igniter, installed new ingiter, and then reassembled cooktop. There was a total of ten screws removed, and two gas lines disconnected. The total repair time was about twenty minutes. I ordered the part on line an d it was at my home in less than 48 hours. Happy ending the cooktop works great, and the repair cost only equaled the cost of the part.

No spark to any of the burners

  • William from DELANO, MN
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
I slid the range out about 8 inches from the wall, and having unplugged the range and looked at the diagram from the Parts Select site, I used a mirror and screwdriver to remove the screws holding the small rear cover. From there I removed the one screw holding the spark module and that way I was able to hold the old and new one side by side to move the wires. Reversed the process, easy peasy.

Based on symptom, knew either switches or spark module. Checked continuity to each switch. Knew if only one faulty, entire harness must be replaced. Checked out good. Spark module isolated so replaced it.

no spark on surface of gas stove
  • Charles from Saint Charles, IL
  • Very Difficult
  • More than 2 hours
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set, Wrench (Adjustable), Wrench set
repair failed; after much difficulty in accessing the small bolts that hold the 'spark igniters' in place; rear two were more accessible, front two proved impossible. Next step, invest in a new slide-in stove. The repair was a dad guess on my part; although designers often consider repair as a non-option, -sad but true.

Burner grate pads worn off or missing
  • Thomas from Dayton, OH
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
I took a jewelers screwdriver and completely cleaned out what was left of the old pads. Then applied a small amount of heat resistant rtv sealant to each hole, slid in the new pads and wiped off the excess. I let everything set overnight. The next day everything was solid. Job was complete. Note I've done this before and did not get the r esults I did this time. I believe it was the instruction that came with the pads and the tip-off to use the rtv. feet on gas stove top grates were gone
  • Steve from Tyngsborough, MA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
Very simple, cleaned out what was remaining of the old rubber feet and just pushed these in. I didn't bother glueing them in as I didn't feel they would fall out. If they do, I'll go out and obtain the glue that is mentioned by others in this thread. Very satisfied.

One of the pads on the bottom of the grate kept falling off.
  • Geri from Brand Haven, MI
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
I was able to order the part I needed. The faulty pad had a broken stem.Several pads came in a bag so if I have the problem again I will have the parts on hand. I bought some RTV glue suitable for items at high temperatures; used a probe to make sure the hole in the grate was clear and clean and glued the new pad in place.
