There was no repair to do. All I had to do was toss the broken grate and place the other one on top of the burner. I took the new knob out of the plastic bag and placed it on the oven. The whole process took les than one minute and no tools were needed.

at first I couldn't get the knob on but after placing a little Vaseline on it, it went right on.

I googled Kitchenaid along with the model number and Parts Select came up. I then entered the model number along with what I wanted, and scrolled through different pictures until I found a sketch of my cooktop with individual numbers for each part.
