KGCC706RSS02 KitchenAid Cooktop - Instructions

My husband and I replaced the igniter module, following directions we found online. We removed the old one, replaced it with the new one, and thankfully everything is working great!

I had to remove the two separate components of the gas burner unit, each had two screws. I lifted then tilted the lower portion of the burner unit to allow access to the underside of the igniter. I went online and discovered the repair method and schematic of the range. I removed the spark module after first removing the upper rear panel cover and replaced with the new part module ordered from your company and now the spark module operates all the gas elements when they are turned on thus lighting the gas burners. Remove the screw on the front of each side, also there are two screws holding the burner controls. Remove the burner knobs. There are two screws holding the burner head to the top of the burner panel, looking down on the burner head, these will not come out easily. Here's where the drill comes in. When replacing the burner head, screw the gas line to the burner head first, then to the main gas control.

Removed back upper cover, unscrewed retaining screw from module. As noted in a comment from another do-it-yourselfer, I replaced screw with a longer one and reinstalled module. Note that the replacement part is not exactly the same as the old one(the wires are located differently), I noted the wire color codes with the slot number and r ... We replaced the part. It was pretty quick and easy to install.

Replace igniters

1. Turn off Gas at valve under cooktop. Unplug electric to igniters. 2. Remove all control knobs. 3. Remove grates and burner covers. 4. Remove screws from each burner head (10 screws) 5. lift and remove cooktop cover. 6. Reach under cabinet and push up main cooktop body (about 4 or 5 inches) and BLOCK. 7. Slightly lift burner strip enough to get short handle philips under screw holding igniter (Be gentle as gas line is still connect and will give enough so as not to have to disconnect them. 8. removed knobs, burnners, top cover plate, disconnecte two gas lines from burnners to controls, lifted burnner bar, unscrewed igniter, installed new ingiter, and then reassembled cooktop. Simply remove two screws take old one off and line up and put new one on and replace the two screws. Couldn't have been easier.

Repair was super simple . Any one could have done it.

pull out the stove,took the top back panel off, take off wires one at a time on new spark module.. easy

1. Apply gas pipe joint sealer to treaded nipple on bottom of cooktop; 2. Install regulator on nipple with regulator direction arrow pointing to top of cooktop; 3. Tighten but do not overtighten as it may crack the aluminum body regulator; 4. Make sure the face of the regulator with the green painted surface faces the outside of the cabin ... Read more et; 5. Get a new gas flex hose to connect to gas pipe (got mine at Lowe's - 2 feet long with all the right fittings for about $15). 6. Follow instructions on gas flex hose - make sure you use gas pipe joint sealer only where indicated; 7. Turn gas shutoff valve back on and test for leaks using soapy water; 8. Turn on each cooktop burner to bleed out air.

repair failed; after much difficulty in accessing the small bolts that hold the 'spark igniters' in place; rear two were more accessible, front two proved impossible. Next step, invest in a new slide-in stove. The repair was a dad guess on my part; although designers often consider repair as a non-option, -sad but true.
