KGCC506RWW02 KitchenAid Cooktop - Instructions

My husband and I replaced the igniter module, following directions we found online. We removed the old one, replaced it with the new one, and thankfully everything is working great!

I had to remove the two separate components of the gas burner unit, each had two screws. I lifted then tilted the lower portion of the burner unit to allow access to the underside of the igniter. I removed the spark module after first removing the upper rear panel cover and replaced with the new part module ordered from your company and now the spark module operates all the gas elements when they are turned on thus lighting the gas burners. Remove the screw on the front of each side, also there are two screws holding the burner controls. Remove the burner knobs. There are two screws holding the burner head to the top of the burner panel, looking down on the burner head, these will not come out easily. Here's where the drill comes in. When replacing the burner head, screw the gas line to the burner head first, then to the main gas control.

Removed back upper cover, unscrewed retaining screw from module. As noted in a comment from another do-it-yourselfer, I replaced screw with a longer one and reinstalled module. Note that the replacement part is not exactly the same as the old one(the wires are located differently), I noted the wire color codes with the slot number and r ... We replaced the part. It was pretty quick and easy to install.

Replace igniters

1. Turn off Gas at valve under cooktop. Unplug electric to igniters. 2. Remove all control knobs. 3. Remove grates and burner covers. 4. Remove screws from each burner head (10 screws) 5. lift and remove cooktop cover. 6. Reach under cabinet and push up main cooktop body (about 4 or 5 inches) and BLOCK. 7. Slightly lift burner strip enough to get short handle philips under screw holding igniter (Be gentle as gas line is still connect and will give enough so as not to have to disconnect them. 8. Removed the broken items and replaced.

removed knobs, burnners, top cover plate, disconnecte two gas lines from burnners to controls, lifted burnner bar, unscrewed igniter, installed new ingiter, and then reassembled cooktop. There was a total of ten screws removed, and two gas lines disconnected. The total repair time was about twenty minutes. I ordered the part on line an ... Simply remove two screws take old one off and line up and put new one on and replace the two screws. Couldn't have been easier.

Gently pressed the lower two clips onto my thumbs as I pressed the skirt into the cooktop skirt hole. Be gentle or you can break the new skirt!

I pulled the knobs off, lifted the broken skirts out and snapped the new ones in.

the decorative backings on our stovetop knobs had become frayed, and I simply pried off the old ones,and installed the new ones. I have use Parts Select for years for various parts replacement, their service is quick and accurate. When I need a part, I always check here first.
