unplug old baking element using socket tool and put in new baking element - very simple and it works!

Took the back panel off. Removed the 2 screws from the old element,removed it. Put the new one in and replaced the screws. Put the back panel on done. What took the longest was cleaning behind there !!

The meltdown was a spectacular event. After clearing the kitchen of smoke and allowing the oven to cool down. I easily removed the remnents of the old element by removing the screws holding each side in place and disconnected the two wires. breaker in order to use the stove top. The next day I found PartSelect.com and ordered the very reasonably priced new part with optional overnight shipping. it arrived at 1:00 pm the following day. Installation was a simple reverse of the removal. The oven works great and I now keep a fire extinguisher in my kitchen.

Removed sheet metal plate from back of oven. Disconnected two lead from existing bake element. Removed existing bake element, replaced with new one. Connected wires, replaced sheet metal.
The trick with this old oven is to access the wires from the back.

(e.g. First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the two wires...) I did have a problem with the wire connectors. they were a little over heated and loose, so I used pliers to ajust the connection.

I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. Then pulled the element out, disconnected the two wires. Reconnected the new elements wires, replaced the screws and the element was ready to go. Worked very well.

Burned out oven bake element (bottom element).

***Make sure power is off the stove*** then remove oven racks.
Used 1/4 inch socket to remove 2 screws holding in the heating element, then pulled the element out a couple of inches to get at the wiring. Used pliers to unplug 2 spade clips.
Reversed procedure to install new element.

Moved stove out from wall and cabinets, then unplugged the stove. Removed the oven racks, then removed the 2 screws securing the baking (lower) element to the rear wall of the oven. Pulled the element out a few inches and disconnected it from the stove wires. Removed old element. Removed screws from rear panel to gain access to wiring

. Inserted new element and connected to wiring. Put element in place and replaced the 2 screws in rear wall. Put rear panel back in place and replaced panel screws. Plugged stove back in and moved back into place. Tested oven and it worked just fine. Parts Select did a great job of filling my order and promptly shipping it. I got it in 2 working days.

We tested all of the other "functions" of the oven to make sure that everything else worked fine, and we realized that the problem really had to be the element.
We ordered it and it came within 72 hours! We simply unscrewed the faulty element, made sure that the wires were handled carefully (circuit turned off!), and inserted ... Read more the new element and rewired and screwed back into place the screws that were removed.

Just removed nuts. Pulled out the element from the unit. Disconnected each end. Reconnected new element. Pushed piece back into insulated unit. Attached nuts. Done.
