cracked inner door glass by my cleaning lady (my wife)

1) Look for the part at partselect.com, make sure you have the model and part number ready. Once you find the part, don't order yet. 2) Start your do-it-yourself repair by removing the oven door. On each side below are two arms/hinges, look closely and you will find locks on each side. Use your finger or flat screwdriver to slide towards you (this is where you start clicking your camera in evey step). Once you did it, wiggle the door a little bit, make sure they're unlocked, then pull it out carefully and hold it tight since it's little heavy. 3) At this point, you only need the phillips screwdriver. Look for all the screws, and unscrew it all, one step at a time (again make use of your digital camera). Remove the parts one at a time until you take out the broken inner glass. Measure it against the dimensions shown in the partselect.com. At this point you feel comfortable putting it back in-reverse, then you order the part. It took me 3 days for the part to arrive, but it's no big deal. 4) It's a bit difficult for me the first time, I can't figure out how to put them back (that's why I recommended the digital camera), plus I have to clean the inside and the other two glasses so it took me 1-2 hrs. I assure you if you follow my instructions, 15-30 minutes max, no sweat. 5) My wife promised me $300 for the labor (competitive price), I'm still waiting though.....Good Luck

opened door and secured the open position with a 3/8 allen wrench through the hole at the base of the support arm. (small bolt or other round, short object can be used). This locks the door in a 75% open position. Locking the door open allows easy lift and removal. Six screws and the door is apart. Clean and reassemble.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discol oring refer handles. Thank you

Broken torsion spring
  • JAMES from RIVERDALE, NJ
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
To access the springs you have to take the outer door off. This is the stainless steel panel with the glass panel. On the inside of the door on the plastic panel near the top are two small screws. You must remove them. BEWARE the screws and two clips at the bottom of the door are the ONLY things holding the door on. I removed the two scre ws and the $160.00 door fell on the floor and broke. After ordering a new door I went back to replacing the springs ( one broke but I ordered both of them ). To get at the springs you must remove the plastic panel. To do this you must remove the plastic vent panel between the microwave and the oven ( 4 screws ). There are two screws holding the plastic piece on at the bottom. The one on the right is easy to get to, the one on the left is above the metal snorkel like vent. Inside the vent is a screw I removed it with a pair of pliers ( very tedious ). With the screw out move the vent to the right to access the second screw then remove plastic the springs go right in with no problem. Reverse procedure and you're done. Remember two screws on outer door and then it drops.

broken inside glass, upper owen door on double oven
  • Leonard from Dallas, TX
  • Easy
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Screw drivers
find the owner's manual & follow the instructions for inserting two allen wrenches (assuming that you cannot find the "removal tools" that came with the oven) into the holes near the hinges on the door, carefully & slowly close the door with the wrenches inserted until the hinges disengage from the wall mounted oven. Lift the door away ( is rather heavy). It is necessary to remove panels from the front one layer at a time to reach the 3rd layer of glass (the inner most glass that is the rather easy one to break). Be slow and methodical. Not a challenge once you study the owner's manual for door removal instructions.

First thing you must do is remove door from oven, to do this there are locks on the hinges, lift them up. Next put door into an upright position with door opened about two inches, lift up and pull away from oven. Lay door on flat surface with inside of door facing up. there are two screws at to of door and two screws at bottom of door rem ove them place to side. next there are four more screws on each corner of the inside of door, they also need to be removed. this will cause the inside and outside of door to come apart. Hold door together and flip over, be careful. remove outside of door put to side. there is a bracket at the bottom with two screws remove, and remove bracket. There is a bracket at top with one screw remove. there are two pieces of glass be careful remove the two pieces of glass to get to the broken piece. Clean broken glass be careful not to cut yourself. Remember how you removed everything to put back together, do everything in reverse. Good luck, it's not that bad.

Removed trim strip from each side of oven, removed one screw from each side hat held oven in place and slid oven out of wall. Finally found the thermostat located on the back side of the oven after removing the sheet metal on back. replaced the thermostat and reversed the procedure. Only difficult part was locating the thermostat. I t hought it was on top, when in fact it was on the back. Pretty easy, really, and saved some cash in the process.
