plastic post for knob broke off
  • Graham from Bridgeville, CA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
I broke the correct post from the new cluster of post selections and stuck it on. I had the kit for a couple of weeks before I realized that this was not an electrical problem. It would have been good of you to send only the new plastic post. That kit was intimidating for a 73 year old woman who lives in the country and does most of he r own plumbing and other household repairs. The repair took less that one minute.

Original burner switch fell apart
  • Jim from Addison, TX
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
Replacement was simple. Old switch was easily removed. Once I swapped the wires from old to new we were in business. One thing I would do differently than the included directions called for. I wish I had waited until I had installed the new switch to set the shaft length. I snapped off one too many sections of the shaft after measuring th e original shaft as recommended. If I had installed the replacement switch and then set the shaft length it would have been more accurate. Everything still works but one knob is now slightly lower than the other three.

I lived with a burned out element in my smooth top cooktop for a couple of years. My grandson and I replaced the elements within 20 minutes an d we were cooking for 16 people. Woo Hoo! Surface element with Limiter - 6" - 1200W went out
  • Carolyn from Rockville, MD
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Screw drivers, Socket set
First, I turned the circuit breaker off to the range. Then, I pulled the range out so that I could get to the screws which held the glass top in place. They were located on the sides of the range. I had to remove the trim pieces on the sides to get to the forward screws. Once that was done, I lifted the glass top, unplugged the wire harne ss, flpped it over on a protected surface. I noted the numbers on the old coil where the clips held it in place and put the clips on the new coil in the same place. The old wires just clipped on to the new coil exactly as they clipped on to the old coil. I put it all back together and it works great! I am a 70 year old woman who did this all by myself. You young guys should have no problem.
