KDRS5 KitchenAid Range - Instructions

Shut gas off. Took cover off of valve assembly. Removed broken valve and installed new part. Turned gas on and checked for leaks. Installed cover on valve assembly.

I had a service guy come in and he told me the repair would be $550.00. I asked for a part list and did it myself. You guys saved me hundreds of dollars.

Removed the ice brucket,
Removed the light shield by releasing one screw using a nutdriver.
Replacing the bulb and reinstalled the light shield.

Your web site is one of the best and most helpfull service sites I ever used. Just wish that in the future you will ship parts overseas.

Simply remove two screws take old one off and line up and put new one on and replace the two screws. Couldn't have been easier.

This is the second time had to change burner on this range. Last time was the left front. Since I had done it before knew better about being careful of the wiring. I had ordered the wiring harness that I had sliced but it was still intact so saved it for another time.

The steel mounting screw tends to seize in the aluminum burner head. It is not easy to extract, or to drill out and rethread. My advice is to replace the burner head at the same time.

Disassembly took the most time. After the gas was shut off all the burner heads were removed. Then all the control knobs. Then the front panel. Then the manifold mounting brackets. Then the range top. After all that, it was easy to unbolt the seized-up valve and install the replacement. After tightening down the new valve, be sure to leak ... Read more -test! Re-installing the range top was tricky as it was difficult to align properly while getting all the burner bases in place. About 1 hour start-to-finish.

The Stove installation manual was accurate and complete. The valve kit was well marked for each part. It was easy to find the proper piece part in the kit. The machining and finish of the parts were top quality. The included instructions addressed clearly the protocol for returning items to the site.

The old part, including lightbulb and socket, had corroded into place, and the glass light cover was stuck to the socket. I used a dead blow hammer and a dowel just under the diameter of the hole to tap on the back side of the socket to loosen it and get it out. The metal tabs on the old socket were folded back to make it fit better (?), ... Read more which made it harder to remove. Lots of muscling of the part to get it out. Easy to install new part once old one was out of the way. An experienced person would have removed the old part and installed the new in no time.

I trouble shot and traced out to electrical short in face panel and found burnt wires. I've been a licensed electrician for years and it takes alot of comon sense to trouble shoot and find problem. It was alittle difficult at 1st to remove the clips that held in the socket. But once out everything went smoothly.

Put the back of stove on blocks of wood to get high enough to screw the new leg in.

Replaced the oven light with a new one but it burnt out as soon as I turned it on. Therefore I decided a new socket may help.

My whirlpool apparently has the old style socket which is pictured in partselect part #PS12584564. The old style socket has to two metal arms that retain it against the metal reflector.

The ... Read more part that will come (#PS12584564) however is the new style that whirlpool has changed to, apparently. It is not as pictured. The socket and the reflector have different retention devices.

I used screw drivers to bend the two metal arms away to release the socket. Then I had to use allen wrenches to bend the reflector's retention tabs away.

Once I had the old socket, reflector, and lens replaced I just followed the video on partselect for part #PS12584564

Pop old one out and new one in

I got from you good quality Knobs from KitchenAid brand (I tried them from a friend Range and then fit perfectly), and I easily replaced all of them, in less that 5 min.
