To release the locking mechanism, you will need to insert a small flat tool into the head of the zip tie, between the tongue and the serration, and depress the bar. This part is a temperature sensing devise. It senses the rise in evaporator temperature during a defrost cycle and cycles the defrost heater off after all frost is melted. It is calibrated to permit a defrost cycle only when the temperature is below a preset temperature

This fan motor is most times used with frost-free refrigerators with a condenser coil. When the compressor runs, so does this fan, circulating air through the refrigerator grille, cooling the compressor and condenser coils. This fan motor also helps to evaporate excess water in the drain pan.
