Refrigerator makes a loud seven-second buzzing sound about every 15 minutes?
Chris Boyle Profile
Hello Robert, thank you for getting in touch. A loud 7-second buzz every 15 minutes is the ice maker trying to fill with water but getting no supply. Ice makers energize the water inlet valve for about 7 seconds per fill cycle, and when there's no water pressure behind it, the solenoid vibrates loudly instead of opening smoothly. To confirm it, raise the ice maker wire shutoff arm inside the freezer to the up position, or turn the ice maker off on the control panel. Wait 20 to 30 minutes and listen. If the buzzing stops completely, the ice maker was the source. Check the shut-off valve behind the refrigerator or under the sink. Make sure it's turned completely open. Inspect the refrigerator water line for kinks or pinching against the wall, a kinked line blocks flow just as completely as a closed valve and produces the same buzzing. If the water supply is fully open, the line is clear, and it still buzzes without filling the ice maker, the water inlet valve, part number W10420083, has failed internally and needs replacement. We hope this helps.

The poorly designed deli drawer lid tab broke off

  • Tim from Littleton, CO
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver
Removed the fruit & veggie drawers & the deli (pantry) drawer. Took out the 3 screws, removed the attached parts, put them on the replacement part, reattached it and put the drawers back in.

Here's the part I want to share: PartSelect had a expanded diagram showing the correct part and sufficiently detailed to figure out the repair before the part arrived. That's why I ordered from them. Secondly, I ordered the part Thursday morning--and the thing was sitting on my porch when I came back in from my evening out Saturday--2 days later!!!

  • Gordon from Cold Spring, KY
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins

Remove food off of lower shelf, remove the two produce drawers, remove large lower drawer, remove glass shelf, remove three screws holding end cap in place. Once end cap was removed the drawer track could be removed and placed on new end cap. Installation of new end cap took less than 5 minutes. Most of the time spent was removing/repl acing food and cleaning the shelf/bins. PartSelect was awesome BTW!
