KBBR206ESS01 KitchenAid Refrigerator - Instructions

After years of using a flash light to check the contents of my refrigerator, I decided to try to fix the problem myself. Replacing the light switch was very easy. The directions were straight forward and I'm sorry I waited so long to tackle the problem.

I have never before seen a bulb with the filament intact not light. If the bulb's filament seems intact, screw the bulb into a known working lamp and see if it lights. When screwing it back into the socket in the fridge, it takes a bit of extra effort to fully seat (until it does, it won't light!). For replacing the switch, I unplugged th ... Read more e unit, used a paint scraper and worked it under the switch bezel from the right side. A bit of moxie, and the switch came out. The replacement switch had a different spade contact spacing than the original. I used a pair of scissors to cut the rubber bridge between the two switch wire connectors so I could connect to the new switch. In the end, it turned out to be the bulb. NOTE: The Model TC18KL is _not_ listed! What I finally found that the number "P7803211WL" on the sticker is actually a manufacturing code. Found this out by searching, and Sears' part search came up with matches.

Changed bulb, not the problem, had to remove switch to identify correct choice to order (3 pronged verus 2) after that it was easy beyond having to stand on my head to make the exchange. (N B before removing old switch it actually came back to life)

The repair (really replacement) took less than 2 minutes. You press a button to pop out the old filter and stick the new one in. Easy as pie.

Just had to take the old one out and put the new one in. No problem.

Simply stick a putty knife between the switch and refrig wall. Pop out old swith, remove both wires by pulling off switch by terminals. Throw switch out. Put wires on new switch and push into slot and all done. Nothing to it! Took me 5 minutes if th

Removed the old one and installed the new one

Removed old water filter by simply twisting the the cap that houses it at the bottom of the refrigerator and replaced with new water filter. No fuss, no muss! Very impressed. This is an easy fix, simply remove and replace. What I was impressed with is that a how to video was provided along with my part. I wish all manufactures would offer this, the video was easy to understand and you had a good view of the operation. Thanks, a job well done.

popped out the old one and popped in the new one

It was very easy just popped the old one out the new one popped right back in done in about One min .

Pulled out the old filter with the push of a button, removed filter cover from frig, took covers off the end of new filter and pushed it into the slot replaced cover. Job done--1 minute.

It was simple using PartSelect to locate the likely source of the problem. Also the pictures of the part helps confirm that you have the correct item.
