I opened the lid, and found that the terminal blocks were burnt, the wires were melted. I ordered one set of terminal block to replace the burnt one, and it worked. Before I started, I shut off the electricity in the whole house to be safe.

TURN OFF ALL POWER TO KITCHEN. Took off all burner coils and plates below them. Lift hood. Locate part. Remove old part and replace with new part in same way as was previously installed. The wire that comes with the kit is actually too much wire, but just arrange it the best you can and leave it....no big deal. I didn't have a magnet , but needed one. The wire from burner coil to switch runs through a harness which is screwed on to the body of the oven (below the range). Be careful NOT to drop it behind oven when taking it out. I dropped it and took forever to get it. That turned a 20 minuate job into an hour and a half. Otherwise this is an easy job that anyone can do. Refrigerator compressor is next. Have fun.

Because of the superb pics and descriptions on the Part Select site, I was able (with NO range model number) to order the correct range element for beloved son's stove. He plugged it in in 3 seconds, works great !

I followed the instructions given to me in the package and all went well. I cut the old wires off the burnt terminal block, stripped the wires, installed the wire nuts with the shrink rap, installed the new terminal block and burner. The new burner is working great! Thanks

The only hard part about putting in a new terminal block (and this time I had to replace the burner too, because that fried too) is stripping the stove wires, because that thermal insulation is very hard to get off. Otherwise, it's simple. In this case, I had already replaced this one (sigh), so had already cut & stripped the wires, so it was all easy. Frankly, the sane thing to do is buy a new stove, but wife is too cheap.

Everything was very easy: identifying the right part was very easy on the website, the part came quicker than I expected, and my wife replaced the stove element before I even got home from work. She just pulled the old one out like she would to clean the top of the stove, and put the new one back in. Have had several awesome cups of co ffee since the replacement.

I pulled out the old burner - put the new one in and I was done. No tools required.

The first burner I received from PartSelect was warped. I called on Friday morning to see about returning it and ordering a new one. The CSR was very helpful and I was totally surprised to have the replacement arrive the very next day since I di dn't ask for a Saturday delivery. I will definitely use PartSelect again.

First, I removed the burner from the box and plastic bag. Second, I pushed the burner into the socket and that was it.
I also want to comment on how easy the ordering process was. I ljust love this website. All you have to do is type in the model number and up comes all of the parts associated with the appliance. My order shippe d the next day and I had unit within 2 days. Also, the part cost $42.00 with shipping. My local parts place was $48.00, so I wound up saving $6.00 and did not have to leave my home to buy it. I will definetly use this site again.

old burned caught on fire

I've been looking for an 8" replacement burner for my GE stove after my original burner caught on fire over a year ago. I had all but given up on finding a replacement after searching at all the stores in my area and also searching on the net. After cooking sides for Thanksgiving dinner this year and the pain of cooking with only 1 large burner, I decided to search again for a burner on line and thank goodness I found this site! All I did was put in the model number of my range/stove and the site directed me to the replacement burner. The picture of the burner looked like mine, so I decided to purchase it but I still wasn't convinced it would fit and work because of my failed previous burner purchases. I really thought my burner was too old and the part was no longer made. Well the part shipped very quickly and lo and behold it fit and worked! Installing was a breeze...I just snapped it in...thanks so much!
