JMV9186WB2 Jenn-Air Microwave - Instructions

Used a philips head screwdriver to remove one screw holding the light cover. Pulled out the old bulb and inserted the new one. Replaced the cover.

Cleaned the interior of my microwave, cleaned the new plate and simply added to the turn area.

PartSelect website indicated replacing the high voltage power supply diode is the solution for "no heat" 99% of the time, but the diode was OK. There is more info at the website concerning the case of "loud buzzing and no heat" indicating the magnetron needs to be replaced. As an electrical engineer with knowledge of microwave components, ... Read more this was also my best guess. However, getting to the magnetron is not the easiest job, but it's not impossible. You also have to be careful to bleed off any charge stored on the high voltage power supply capacitor. Luckily, I found my KitchenAid service manual tucked away inside the unit since I couldn't find it online.

Unplug the microwave. Then remove the six screws that hold the lower panel which has the light bulb cover and a couple of vent filters. I needed to use a needle nose pliers to remove the bases and then I replaced the bulbs and put every thing back together

Unscrew lens and direct access to surface light cavity. Removed old light bulbs and replaced with new bulbs. Reassembled lens cover and turned lights on successfully. Took less than ten minutes.

Looked up the Whirlpool Co. and ordered the part. It was quite simple. Arrived in 2 days and I simply placed it in the microware. It was very very easy!

Removed the old one, 2 screws to take it out.

Pushed in the bottom of the new one and screwed it back in.

You do not have to be handy whatsoever.

Opened door and put new plate in.

Placed order on Thursday evening and received Sat Am

Changed out turntable motor

Based on other similar posted repairs, I purchased the bottom switch. Upon removing the control panel to replace the switch, I found the blue 22 gauge wire was broken at the spade terminal. This wire had been crimped to the terminal along with a 14 gauge wire. Apparently the force to crimp the thicker wire weakened the smaller wire at ... Read more the terminal. I stripped the end of the small blue wire and reattached it to the thicker wire using a solder iron and solder. The repair fixed the problem.

On top front of the microwave are two Philip's head screws holding the rail on. Remove these screws and the rail snap out the old filter (noting the dark side down) then snapping the new filter in. Replace rail. 10 to 15 minute task.

After removing the over-the-range unit (no small feat!) I had to figure out how to open the case (good puzzle!). Capacitor had already discharged, so it was very easy to reach in, pop the old fuse and install the new one! As per your advice, I found out I was a "28%-er"! I removed the microwave to install a back splash and found the support edge on the backplate had broken off and was missing. I searched for parts for the microwave and found them on PartsSelect.com. Easy to order, and was shipped promptly.

Overall a very simple repair.

Took out the turntable parts to ensure I ordered the correct cooking tray. Matching those with photos of related parts on PartSelect worked great. Put turntable drive and support ring in place and cooking tray went in very easily. Plan to order a second one to have on hand for this rental property.

I took off the glass panel underneath the microwave and replaced the 2 bulbs in less than 3 minutes by myself with only a phillips head screwdriver. I was very pleased with the service I received and more pleased with myself that I did not have to call in a repair man.
