Unplug ref then remove lower(freezer) panel plus trays and thermistor’s cover/holder then remove the evaps cover. I found the evaps all frozen up. Cut and remove old thermistor, strip wires 1/2 inch then cut the new thermistor wires to length and strip 1/2 inch, use the enclosed insulated crimp type connector and put back everything in t he reverse order. It works great afterwards.

you need to take the deli drawer out, make sure your flat head screw driver is large enough for the head of the screw as screwing into the plastic is a bit difficult. Other than that there are 2 screws and its pretty easy.

broken light switch in the freezer

We removed the old switch, unplugged it, plugged the new one in and it was easy to do. But when we tried to put the switch back in we had a very hard time doing it. Eventually got it in, but if it had not been for the difficulty we had getting the new switch to snap in to place, it would have taken under 5 minutes.

Insulation was disintegrating.

  • Julie from San Diego, CA
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
On the back of the refrigerator, I unscrewed and removed the lower-right panel. As I peeled the insulation off the panel, the insulation would disintegrate, so I used a vacuum-cleaner hose to remove most of the insulation. I removed the remaining adhesive with my fingers. I peeled the backing off the new insulation, and stuck it to the pa nel.

I had ordered two pieces of insulation, hoping to also replace the insulation behind the compressor, but removing the compressor was complicated and risky, so I returned the second piece of insulation.

Refrigerator would cool for a very short period of time. Then the compressor would shutdown via internal thermal overload or high head pressure. This was caused by the lack of airflow across the condenser coils and compressor.

one was the refrig wasn't holding temperature properly, sometimes too cold, sometimes too warm. Also the cold water dispenser didn't work at all. First, IMPORTANT! Check to see if there are different parts for your 'series' of model. I made the mistake of missing this and received the wrong parts the first time as Parts Select doesn't hig hlight this! It would be nice if their website checked to see if different parts are available for your model and ask if you checked this important fact. They were very good to replace the wrong part with the right one and refund the amount of the returned part. On my model, the first two digits of the serial number denotes the series number, which means you may need a 'series' specific model part. After getting the correct parts, replacing the damper control solved the temperature control issues and the refrige is actually quieter now (It used to make sounds as the damper opened or closed). My unit used a 'series 10' version and there was no need to purchase the harness, as I just used the old one. Replacing the dual water valve solved the issue with my water dispenser not working. I'm good with hand tools so both of these were easy for me using just basic tools.
