The hardest thing was finding the part to order! The GE Cooktop is from 1957 when the house was built. I followed the instructions that came with it. After seeing where the screw on hinge was supposed to be, I cleaned away the caked grease and finally saw the screw. I had to use a nut driver to remove it since it didn't have a slot for a ... Read more screwdriver. Once that screw was out, the rest was easy. Before disconnecting any wires, I laid the new and old parts beside each other and drew a diagram showing where each wire (red, black & white) connected. It was a bit scary stripping the wires since they were old and fragile. It said to bend them into a "U" and solder but I didn't have soldering skill or equipment so I just tightened the screws holding the wires carefully. The connections are all nicely isolated in the bakelite insulator so it didn't seem cruicial. After working the new unit into place and turning on the power (at the circuit breaker), the burner worked perfectly. The replacement part looked exactly like the original. I was so amazed to be able to obtain the replacement burner after all these years! Thank-you PartsSelect!

It was so easy. I turned off the power to the range, loosened the hinge screw and removed the burner unit from the stovetop. Next I removed the two spring clips holding the ceramic housing covering the three connectors. Raise burner high enough to remove screw located on hinge between coils. Remove screw completely and lift-out burner and ceramic block with wire connections.
Remove the wires from the connector block and strip-back the ends of both about 3/4". Make connections per the diagram and then assemble the ceramic blocks around the connect ... Read more ion in a sandwiched fashion and secure the halves with the clips provided.
Now sit the burner down into place. An extra pair of hands is good here to hold the chrome trim ring and the coil up directly opposite the hinge. Then, peek under the coil and using fingertips, get the screw provided started in the hinge bracket and run this screw up snugly. A 1/4" nut driver makes this part easier, but a screwdriver will get it done.
That's it. Just flip the breaker to restore power and cross your fingers. A fairly easy job that took about 40 minutes to do both 8" elements The potentially frustrating parts are the ceramic terminal block assembly and replacing the hinge screw, but a job that's very doable. Oh, don't forget to slip the drip pans back in.

Teh instillation was a simple matter of removing the old burners and replacing them with the new ones. Removal required the screw connector on each burner ring to be loosened and the reverse done when the new one was installed. Both the eight inch burner and the the six inch burner were not an exact fit. I used the old rings and the new burners. The eight inch burner fit well with the new drip bowl;however, the six inch burner did not fit with the six inch drip bowl and I had to grind off about an eigth inch from the diamiter of the drip bowl. First I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then pulled the element out about 3 inches and disconnected the four wires The element i request was 3 elements and i received two element but it was very easy i connect only the 3 wires.

This part has the trim ring attached. My old element had the trim rim detached. This new part still fit my stove top and works fine.

The package arrived with the bake element and two terminal screws.

It looks like this replacement would fit a number of different models made by GE. The mounting plate has a number of mounting holes to fasten the element to the oven cavity back plane. 1. Unplug range
2. Open oven door and remove racks by sliding back and lifting out.
3. Loosen and remove the two element mounting screws.
4. At the back of the unit, remove the black cover by loosening and removing three screws, on at the bottom and two at the top.
5. Loosen and remove the two terminal screws and discard them.
6. At the front of the range, lift out and remove the old element. Insert the new element.
7. Position the mounting plate so a pair of mounting holes match the old screw positions on the back plane. Use the old screws to secure the element.
8. At the back of the unit, bend down the leads gently if the lead terminals are not accessible with a screw driver. About 30 degrees.
9. Use the new screws to attach the wire leads to the two terminals.
10 Reattach the black cover using the original screws.
11. Plug in the unit.
12. Test by turning on the bake selector, Open the oven door. Open a window or turn on a vent
13. When the element is cherry red, all the oils used in manufacturing boil off. Turn off the unit. Allow to cool. Reposition the range and it is ready to use.

remove 2 screws pull out, and had a little trouble with the 2 power lines(breaker turned off), as they were around 60 years old, used a nut driver, and plyers to hold leads, and reversed to install. went well considering the age of the oven. tested, broiler works well,(let it heat up for appx 2-3 min to burn off dirt, etc)

I initially only purchased the heating element since this usually the cause of the broil element not functioning well. It took a little longer to receive because I had to order it over the Holidays. Read more rchased the broil element and received it within approximately 4 days. It took just a little more time to replace because there was a brace that was attached to the upper oven that helped to hold it in place. Once the wires were attached with the screws it worked very quickly. It's nice to have my oven back in use again!

Parts arrived bent and element had tape residue on it. After approximately 1 hr. I was able to clean, make parts straight and install it.

I unscrewed the old burner from the stove, took off the three wire to the heating element marking down where each colored wire went, taped off the exposed wires, ordered the new burner, and waited for it to arrive. When it got here, I installed it, and believe it or not, the new burner works just fine!. End of exciting repair story.

Took the old part off and marked the wiring for easy replacing and looked all over town and no part to match, so I went to the Internet and put in 8" burner and luckily found your website.
