HDA2000F01WH Hotpoint Dishwasher - Instructions

We bought a used dishwasher that appeared to be in good shape. After installing I ran it through its cycle. It seemed to work fine but after the wash cycle it would not pump out to drain. I found there was a solenoid that controlled the pump direction (drain or to the washer). It tested to see if it was getting power when it was supposed ... Read more to pump to drain and it was. When I manually actuated the valve the dishwasher pumped out as it was supposed to. With power to the solenoid and the valve working as it should the only peice left was the solenoid. I ordered it from PartsSelect.com and it arrived in 2 days. Installation was only 2 screws and a spring and all now works great.
The on-line parts diagrams and fast shipping make PartsSelect the only choice when buying parts for my appliances.

The repair wouldn't have taken as long as it did if the pictures on the installation sheet were clearer. They were very smudgy. Couldn't see the details on the pictures.

I took the bottom plate off by removing 1 screw on each side. I then pulled the water inlet valve out, disconnected the 2 wires. Because mine was the original inlet valve and GE changed the new one I had to remove the new inlet valve from the face plated and use the old face plate. took the moter off and the impellar off replaced the impeller .back and turn the washer back on but it still wouldnt .wash .the moter wouldnt turn .so had the moter tested and it was the moter . found out how and what to look for on you tube .it was a big help in how to fix your washer .typed in model and what kind portable .it was easy . ... Pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter using a little rug to keep the metal feet from scratching the tile. It is surprisingly light. Old motor and pump are held in mainly by pipe clamps, easy to remove once the washer has been pulled out and turned on its side.

The instructions that came with the pump kit show how ... Read more to set it up for several different dishwashers. Once you figure out which one you have it is quite easy to set it up. Mine leaked when I first started it up. I pulled it back out and re-tightened the large pipe clamps and it now runs dry.

The dishwasher runs quieter and the dishes come out clean now.

Dishwasher was not filling with water so I assumed the Water Inlet Valve was the problem. I replace the valve but still had the same problem. Studying everything I noticed another problem. Water was pumped out as soon as it came in. I removed the Drain Solenoid and found the plunger securly stuck inside the plastic cylinder. I forcefully removed it. I knew the solenoid was probably OK because it jerked during the drain cycle. I put emery cloth around a dowel rod and sanded inside the plastic cylinder until plunger moved freely. I smoothed inside with wet or dry sandpaper. After re-installing the solenoid the dishwasher works great. My only explanation is the solenoid has a design flaw and that heat from the solinoid must expand the plastic inward over time.

replaced pump and motor with new one. worked but pump would not empty the water. ordered additional parts check valve,seal and box that check valve screwed into. did not fix problem. Got to looking at replacement pump and discovered thet discharge solonoid was not completely opening the discharge port. I could hold it down manually and ... Read more the machine would empty. I reported the problem to parts select and they without question shipped me a new pump and motor. took the dishwasher out of the wall again and swapped them out, and now it works fine. the repair was easy and simple. the difficulty was taking the dishwasher out and reinstalling it 3 times. I will use parts select again if the need arises.

Originally replaced solenoid without pulling unit out, but continued to leak. Purchased the entire motor and pump kit; pulled unit out, turned it on end and replaced the motor. The only problem was that no new ground screw was sent with the kit and the existing screw wasn't quite short enough to connect. Either the hole on the replacem ... Read more ent kit needs to be deeper or a bond screw needs to be sent that will fit the new kit. We had to find our own screw that would fit properly.

All new seals

First, remove the bottom front covers (two parts four screws). Second, remove the two screws at the top that secure the dishwasher to the counter. Third, gently pull away the dishwasher from underneath the counter just far enough to see and be able to remove the door spring(s) - one on each side. Fourth, remove the existing hinge arm l ... Read more ink(s) if not already broken off, replace with the new one(s). Note that the door hinge goes on the door (front) side of the spring and the other side fits into a groove on the door arm - the other end of the spring attaches to one of the 3 available holes on the frame at the bottom. It would be a good idea to replace the hinge arm links on both sides even if only one is broken. Make sure that the door has the right tension (each spring can be hooked in 1 of 3 holes to adjust the tension). Then gently push the dishwasher back under the counter. Finally, replace the screws under the counter and replace the covers on the bottom front. All of this should take no more than 15-20 minutes. This was an easy job!

Turned off breaker. Turned off water and disconnected water line to make it easy to pull unit out and turn on it's side. Once that was done it was an easy swap out. Exact same motor/pump assembly. Love this site. Thanks

Unplugged the machine then removed the two connectors to the motor. Loosenned the hose clamps, pulled the hoses took off the balancing bar,removed old motor assembly and put new one in. Reverse all the steps plugged the machine back on and was done in less then twenty minutes.
