GXWH04F General Electric Water Filter System - Instructions

The old one got streached out of shape. The new one fit fine. Easy!

Quickly System had air in it (Normal) Pushed red relief button to bleed system, Filter started to leak and wouldn't stop. To correct I pressed button multiple times. Leak stopped.

Replaced filter

I was due to change the water filter cartridge anyway so I ordered the new o-ring and using the wrench supplied with the filter, I did my normal cartridge replacement and changed the o-ring on the housing at the same time. Real easy. I bought spares in case I ever need them. The original o-ring lasted 5 1/2 years.

With this whole house water filter in line with the water heater line, I could see the filter was dirty because of the clear water filter housing and the original filter was white. I used a manufacturer supplied spanner wrench and turned off the water first, then unscrewed the filter housing and replaced with the new white filter cartrid ... Read more ge, then re-installed the cartridge housing. The old one was visibly full of dirt because it was nearly black with sediment. I like the original equipment cartridge because it is white, other charcoal filters are black so you can't tell when they are full of dirt.
