I am 85 years old and had no trouble replacing the Augar. Removed ice maker from frig. Remover the ice shield (one screw, remove front panel (2 screws) carefully removed augar assy.

Ice maker assembly removed from refrigerator and disassembled. Note nylon nut holding the Augur in place is removed clockwise. As you take the assembly apart, note each piece for reassembly.

Removed the ice tray and then the auger unit from the tray assembly. To accomplish auger removal, the auger assembly is attached to the tray assemble at the front. On the front bottom there two screws. Back them out. Then on the top of the tray assembly the auger assembly is held in position by two tabs. Depress them with a finger or thu ... Read more mb. Do not use a screw driver as this may result in breaking the plastic tab! The auger assembly will separate. The crusher plate easily separates from the auger assembly and is removed buy "spiraling" the plate up and off the auger itself. Simply reverse to install new plate.
Recommendation: Take this opportunity to thoroughly clean and COMPLETELY DRY all components prior to re-assemble and re-install into the refrigerator.

I downloaded a schematic of the ice dispensing unit. The whole unit pulls out and there are a couple of screws that remove plastic covers. The "trick" was to get the two plastic tabs pushed in and lift the auger unit out of the tray - a two person job! We used knife blades (it was the thinist and strongest tool around) to push the tabs ... Read more in and pry the auger assembly out. I think we did a great job NOT breaking the plastic pieces! As careful as I was, I definately needed the schematic to put the ice crushing blades and spacers back together. All of this could be avoided if they used a metal auger instead of plastic!

I popped the switch out using the blade of a small screwdriver and noticed that it connected with two wires via a slide on connector for each one. I noted the info on the old switch to identify which wire went to which terminal. I held each wire with a pair of pliers while I pulled the wire connector off the terminal on the old switch. ... Watched video, however could not get outer casing off. Under the panel are three small holes, pushed up with an Allen key, used a small screwdriver to wedge out, came out easily, followed instructions from video on removing and replacing solenoid

After googling the model number to my refrigerator I found Parts Select. They provided a clear picture of the parts and I used that to match up the part I needed. I bookmarked this site for future reference.

Ordered the new part (water valve). Took off the bad one followed directions on you video. The video explained the process making it easy to do.

Unfortunately, the replacement part didn't come with instructions. The repair, nevertheless, was fairly straightforward. It is a tight fit through the funnel (from the outside of the freezer), however, and requires that the gasket first be "flipped" open wherein it unfolds 180 degrees. Doing this will make it easier to clip the new gasket onto the assembly.

using a small socket wrench and star shaped driver I (1) removed the two screws that held the broken stop from the bottom of the door, and (2) replaced the new stop and screwed it back in. The most difficult part of the job was opening the door in order to access the second screw.

The ice maker has plastic parts in the front that snap together. Getting those parts apart and back together was the most difficult part of the process. The auger was easily replaced.

It was more involved than I thought. I didn't have the proper tool for removing the snap washers but a screw driver and pliers did the trick with no damage. I think this is the first time I repaired something right the first time.

I first replaced in-line water filter to the fridge. No ice. Then I replaced the water filter inside the fridge. Still no ice. I inspected the water inlet feeding the ice cube trays and it was froze up with ice. I removed the two screws holding the ice maker in place to remove the ice from the inlet tray. I then used a hair dryer to ... Read more melt the ice accumulated in the in-coming water tube. Turned off the water and unplugged the fridge. When replacing the old water valve, I first blew through the hose feeding the ice maker to be sure that it was clear of ice. After re-attaching the water hoses and the electrical connections, I turned on the water, plugged in the fridge and turned the ice maker switch back on. Next morning I had ice cubes. Only mystery is I am not hearing the usual water noise when water is feeding the cube tray like I did before, - not to worry though if it works. My drawer is now full of cubes.
