Replaced door switch, now no vacuum effect when I close door. Light now goes out but no vacuum seal.
There is ice buildup on freezer.
Is there another switch somewhere?
For model number FUF21SVDRWW
Hello Ed, thank you for reaching out. We recommend replacing the door gasket, part number PS296705, to isolate your problem. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of assistance!
Hello Rick, thank you for your inquiry. One reason may be that if the food is hot, the fridge light doesn't turn off when the door closes, and the bulb remains on constantly. Touch the food closest to the light source. Or, the Door Switch PS759479 is faulty. We hope this information will help you.
I called the local GE dealer for repair. The repair person arrived and told me that he could not get the part. The freezer was too old. Then he charged me $60 for coming out. I went online and did a search for parts with the model number above. I found Partselect.com and the diagrams showed which part I needed. It was in stock and I ordered it. My husband and I removed the door to the freezer, pushed the part into the hole at the bottom of the door and put the door back on its hinges. It works perfectly. Thank you.
This happened before, when we loose electricity it blows the computer module. Pull the bad one out. When the new one arrives, unwrap and plug in! That easy! Viola, freezer will now work. Set the temp control as needed.
