Office refrig. A rat chewed thru.drain part.
  • Allan from Tampa, FL
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
Sears told me the part was no longer available. I came to your web site and then called your customer service. A very nice customer service lady helped me find the part. Very simple to pull the old one off and reinstall the new one with a rat trap behind the unit. Just in case it came back. Could have been a client but probably was a rat. Thanks for the great service.

Refridgerator Door Gasket Needs Replacing
  • Ed from Mason, TX
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
I watched some videos online trying to find one that pertained to my door gasket and found a couple. After that it was a snap. The old gasket came off easy and the new one went back on easy. I did however submerse it in hot water first to kind of even things out.

A power surge made my side by side refrigerator stop working
  • Country at from SAYRE, OK
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Nutdriver, Pliers, Screw drivers
I started at the compressor and replaced the overload and the Ptcr first and that did not make the compressor start running again, so I replaced the capasitor and it still did not start, so I bit the bulett and replaced the Main Control Board and that is what I should have checked first, when I removed the old one I found a little burnt s pot on the back that I could not see from the front. The new one did not look exactly like the old one, it had two more wire terminals than the old one, but just leave them blank and everything will work just fine!

Freezer door gasket replaced
  • John from NORTH PALM BEACH, FL
  • Very Difficult
  • More than 2 hours
Both PartSelect and GE advisors told me to remove/loosen screws holding gasket to the door. This model has no screws. After pulling to old gasket from a corner (very difficult) I found that it is held in place by pressing it into a channel running around the door. Very difficult to line up the proper parts and very difficult to slide/adju st it into place. When finally installed, one corner of the gasket protruded so that the door was not flush and actually kept the door from closing. I tried to push/pull it into place. No good. Finally I tried to hammer the gasket back to make it flush. No good, as it evidently crushed the magnets providing the necessary holding power and produced gaps. I finally had to get foam window stripping plus heavy duty magnets to pull door to frame. Result: door closes OK but some moisture collects around door.

switch wouldn't come out anymore and turn light on
  • Cynthia from Seatac, WA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Gently pry out switch in door jam with screwdriver and pull both connectors off and put connectors on new switch then push switch back into the hole. Looked it up on the internet and video showed how to and also had link to new part, ordered and less than a week later the fridge is bright again. I have an older freezer also and it seems that they all use the same switches. Very Very easy

Refrigerator door gasket was coming apart.
  • Daniel from Orcas, WA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers, Wrench set
I watched the video, supplied on the website, two times and followed the procedure. The repair was very easy and a pleasant experience. Lay the new gasket out flat for a couple of days in the sun prior to installation and remove the door and lay it flat for the installation of the gasket. Remove old gasket and clean track and surroundi ng area thoroughly. Line up new gasket over track and at each corner and press into track, starting in center of one side, and work your way to each corner - repeat on each of the remaining three sides. Use a wet sponge to slide along the top of gasket while pressing same into track on the door.
