F5908W0 Roper Range - Instructions

I cut the power to the circuit. Removed the burner and then unscrewed the old aluminum plate attached to the range top cover. Opened the topcover to access the wires. I cut the two wires being sure that I left enough length. I then slipped the two new wires with the brass contacts into the new black plastic holder until it locked ... Read more . Reattached the new metal plate to the range cover, fed the wires through and snapped the new plastic holder into the aluminum plate. Secured wire ends with the ceramic wire nuts. Total time about 30 minutes.

Drilled a pilot hole with a 1/16 th drill bit and tapped off screw head.

Lifted range top, disconnected and labled wires from old switch, removed old switch, replaced wires on new switch, installed new switch.
NOTE: Local appliance store informed me that the electric cooktop was too old and that a replacement switch was not available and wanted to sell me a new cooktop for $795!

The new element has a manufacturing defect. This problem was immediately rectified by their salesperson Mary. Another burner element is on its way thanks to the professional and personal help from Mary.

I found the received switch (PS12070192) a poor replacement for the original, or even the earlier replaced part (PS11744446, in 2016) I was going to replace since the press/return feature seemed slow to return.

The male spade lugs on the received switch are so positioned that engagement is only possible if the lug is bent out ... Read more at a large angle. The lug set-back from the body edge, and the raised ribs on the sides still prevent full engagement of the connections.

I did install the new switch but found that was the only switch that didn’t give a signal light when turned on.

I have reinstalled the earlier unit.

Removed the ice brucket,
Removed the light shield by releasing one screw using a nutdriver.
Replacing the bulb and reinstalled the light shield.

Your web site is one of the best and most helpfull service sites I ever used. Just wish that in the future you will ship parts overseas.

Removed 2 screws, cut the wires, pulled the part out that the element plugs into. Replaced the old part with the new one and put the screws back in to hold it, reconnected the wires and plugged in the element. Turned stove on and Valaaaa! It was fixed in 10 minutes! Thanks for the great repair parts!

Remove broken right hinge (3 screws)and detach spring. Replace right hinge and attach spring. Tip when ordering: make sure that you pay attention to which hinge you order (right hinge vs. left hinge). Turned off power at circuit breaker. Removed 4 phillips screws from area over oven door. Pulled control panel out and twisted to clear top rail. 1. Remove bottom drawer.
2. Remove spring (easier to take off bottom first).
3. Remove broken hinge.
4. Insert new hinge into oven door.
5. Insert hinge into oven.
6. Reattach spring.

I followed the instructions provided.

Replaced drip pans and now everything is level.

Turned power completely off. Removed knob from front panel. Opened range top cover. Removed 3 screws from aluminum panel protector behind the element switch. Handy dandy brother in law can fix anything. Pulled range out, removed
old element and installed new. I did not witness but he had it up and
running in less than half hour.

Works fine!!!!
