EW28BS71IB2 Electrolux Refrigerator - Instructions

Googled it on Youtube - unplugged the fridge, used a paint scraper to loosen the old light switch, unplugged it from the electrical source, connected the new switch, replaced the whole unit into the proper location and pushed it firmly into place.

After unplugging the fridge, I took a small flat headed screwdriver and carefully pried off the light switch from the inside, right side of the refrigerator. I disconnected the 2 wires from the switch and replaced it with the new switch and pushed it back into the frame of the fridge. Done !! Very very easy !! Thank you

The part i recieved, from parts select was a larger in circumfrence (<1/4) than the original. However i was not aware of this until after i treid to repair it.

I removed the broken fan from the condenser. This was very sipmle.

Just push the button on the top right hand and pull the filter out; then proceed to instal the new one pushing it in place. It's really an easy operation!!

Original unit had screw on lugs. After removing old unit, I unscrewed the lugs, cut the lines to remove the nuts and inserted them into the new unit. I watched the video and followed every step as outlined. It worked perfect, until I reconnected the supply line to my triple water valve. I used the old compression fitting and the compression nut. I should have cut the line and installed a new fitting and nut. The water on the floor the next morning reminded me of that. So back out I wen ... Read more t and replaced the compression fitting and it has been as good as new. The ice maker took a few cycles to work again, I think it needed to fill the line with water first. But I have a huge sense of pride every time I hear water dispenced or ice dump in the freezer. Thanks for the help and encouragement!

I did not do a repair. You sent the wrong part & I didn't open the package but I can't get hold of anyone to return the part and get the correct part.

I am very upset that no one will help me. I paid $ 37.28 for the part I ordered and then the wrong part was sent

Remove frozen food and ice cubes to coolers so they stay frozen.
Remove shallow wire shelf.

There is one cap head square driver screw to remove on the wall of the freezer holding the slide in place. Leave the other two flat head screws alone. Slide the defective frame off the other two flat head screws. Take new part and attachment is the reverse of the disassembly you have just done. The front frame corner clip is a bit difficult to put together there is a top and bottom spring clip then the plastic "rivet" where you need to push in the centre pin to retain it in the joint. [a bit flimsy so be careful].
The shallow basket should be carefully placed on the front and side clips, and make sure everything is square. Then slide the shelf to make sure it goes into the freezer properly. Then you can re-load the food and ice cubes.

DID IT JUST LIKE THE VIDEO SHOWED. UNHOOKED ELECTRICS, CUT TUBING, HOOKED UP ELECTRICS THEN TUBES TO NEW PART. PIECE OF CAKE.

Pulled the old seal out of the groove. Placed new seal in the groove. New seal has to be heated and massaged to get it into proper form so it does not leak. I have been continuously heating and massaging to get the seal to get it in the proper form. Been working on it for a week. Almost there.

We had someone to come and look at it and we were told it was the solenoid valve. The repairman unstuck it for us and said when it does it again, he would have to order the part. We took it upon ourselves to order the part and DIY. We replaced the part that we were told was the problem and "guess what" it's still not fixed. It's still sh ... Read more ooting out crushed ice. I REMOVED THE OLD GASKET BEING VERY CAREFUL TO SEE EXACTLY HOW IT CAME OFF. I INSERTED THE LOCKING INSERT INTO THE TRACK IN THE DOOR WHICH DID NOT FIT AS THE OLD ONE DID. AFTER USING TREMENDOUS FORCE WITH MULTIPLE TOOLS I DID MANAGE TO GET THE TOP AND THE SIDES TO LOCK INTO PLACE AND EVENTUALLY HOLD. THE BOTTOM OF THE GASKET DID NOT HO ... Read more LD SO I USED CLEAR CAULK AND TAPE TO HOLD THE GASKET IN UNTIL THE CAULK CURED. AFTER THE CAULK CURED THE GASKET HAS, SO FAR, REMAINED TIGHT.

Straight forward repair. Remove the four screws holding cardboard back. Remove the 2 screws holding the valve. Unscrew the water lines and unplug the electrical connections. I would caution that it would be wise to either take a couple photos or write down the order of connection. Even though it is somewhat color coded and the water lines ... Read more are different sizes, a photo removes any confusion. My old valve had threaded connections using brass nuts and ferrules. The new valve has push in connections so you need to cut the ferrules off.. When cutting off the tubing, be sure to cut square. An angled or "squished" cut will leak when pushed into the fitting. Attach the valve to the refrigerator with 2 screws and replace the cardboard back and you're finished. While you have the back off is a good time to clean the coils. I left my fridge out and back off for a couple of ice making cycles so I could check for leaks (how I know the tubing needs to be cut very square). All in all, a very easy fix.
