EILFU21GS0 Electrolux Freezer - Instructions

Took about an hour previously to deice freezer, timer was running,drain was open, jumped defrost thermostat out and heater was O.K. Defrost thermostat was just a plug and play item, the time involved was in taking the freezer apart to get to it.

was very easy. just ordered a new ice maker which was delivered in a few days. The installation was so simple. Just plugged the new ice maker in and hung the unit on the 2 screws. And then tightened the screws with a 1/4 in nut driver.

Oh yea thanx to partselect it went great didnt get fisrtkey but when got the second key it worked great thanx partselect

take 1/4 hex screws out clean out dust ,remove old fan blade replace with new install bolts .

removed screws with from the back panel of the freezer; located defrost thermostat attached to coil with a metal clip; unplugged thermostat and replaced with the new one. Put every thing back together and it works perfectly.

After testing and eliminating the temperature control and the timer as the problem, I turned to the thermostat. My thermostat was visibly damaged from water melting into ice and expanding the casing and eventually breaking one of the connections. I connected the thermostat connection wires (not recommended) to get by while ordering the part, which shipped faster than local repair places could get it from their warehouses, and at a fraction of the cost. My first option was to replace the defrost timer.
After still getting ice and frost buildup in freezer I decided to replace the defrost thermostat.
Remove all shelves. Losen icemaker if applicable. Remove light cover and bulb. R ... Read more emove all screws securing rear vertical cover. Carefully move back panel, disconnect icemaker and bulb assembly. carefully remove styrofoam cover at upper left and remove defrost thermostat. I tested the thermostat and found it was defective. It would not close circuit after being placed in a working freezer. Reverse procedure to replace thermostat.
This solved the problem

Installed new fill valve in less than 30 minutes and waited for 24-8 hours for results to no avail. Ice maker mechanism was shot and still would not work. Went to Lowes and bought entire ice maker add on kit for my model ice box and installed in 30 minutes and have been making ice ever since. Your 99% cure rate was 100% incorrect. Save ... Watched video on Part Select which shows you how to replace the thermostat with several good pointers. Very easily done and now the freezer works great.

I unscrewed the screws that held the old fan on, disconnected the wiring harness and removed the old fan. I pulled the blades off the motor and put it on the new fan. One thing of note, the screw holes on the new fan weren't threaded. I assume this is by design, so I used the screws to thread the holes before installing it in the freezer ... Read more . Once I did this, the rest of the installation was easy, just screw it back in and connect the wiring harness.

Remove the cover panel inside the freezer, remove and replace the fan motor (pull fan blades off old motor and push on the new one) and replace the cover.

The two screws that held the ice maker in place could not be seen do to there location. I could only get one hand inside do to space restriction.So I placed a mirror inside so I could see the screw heads and from point it was very easy to see and line up the nut driver on the screw heads.
