ECKMF90 Whirlpool Ice Maker - Instructions

Followed the video on parts page. I was worried I would brake the cover but learned from the video the right way to remove the front plate. I found the video very informing. Thank you for saving me a service call and the part cost was minimal compared to a new refrigerator .

I pulled the refrigerator out from the wali slowly so not to damage the water line to the ice maker. Then with a nut driver I removed all the screws holding the back plate on. Read more moved the screws holding the valve in place finished unhooking the water lines with my fingers. I then got the new valve and finger tightend the main water supply nut to the inlet side, then I pushed the plastic supply tube going to the icemaker into the valve. The new valve does not use a nut to attach the tubing it is a presure fit very easy.

Took cardboard cover off rear of refrigerator, five screws. Turned water off and unplugged fridge. Took out two screws holding inlet valve, pulled off quick release power wires and changed out water supplies in and out. Rebooked power and replaces cardboard cover. With power and water back on, ice maker was supplied with water.

First shut off water supply and unplug power. Unscrew icemaker assembly from side wall with 3 screws. Remove front cap and you can clearly see module. Unscrew and remove module ( only three screws). A repairman wanted to charge me $250 to do what I did in about 20 minutes for about $120.

The Ice maker unit had to be removed and the shaft had to also be removed, which required dis-assembling the motor drive. The thickness of the shaft and the bearing fill cup prevents it from simply pushing it in place. Other than that I have Ice.

After taking apart the ice maker, the only obvious replacement was the motor assembly. I check various Internet sites and found the best price at PartSelect.

After R/R the motor assembly and returning the ice make to the freezer all that remiand was to see if it worked.

Within 10 minutes I had the wonderful sound of water filling the ice maker tray. Within 30 minutes of that, ICE!!!

After discovering that the water noise was coming from the rear of the refridgerator upon pulling it foward I discivered the connection line had broken. So i got a phillips screw driver and removed the the two mounting screws and saw it was one piece. I easliy found the part on PartSelect website and once I got I merely swaped them out ... this is a snap! 2 screws an a nut to tighten and it works like a charm. the filler tube in my Kenmore refer had broken off in the back. ( really bad location to put this in the beginning) if you push the refer to close to the wall you can break it off easily. remove the water line by loosing the nut and remove the hose from the fill tube ... Read more ( This assumes you have already turned of the water supply or you are standing in a large puddle)remove the 2 screws that hold the filler tube in place. pull out the old filler tube in and slightly upright motion. replace the new fill tube into the same hole and replace the screws. replace the hose and tighten the nut, turn the water back on and check for leaks your done !!

ordered the part, pulled out the icemaker unit, removed the module, put the new module in, reinstalled the ice maker unit and let it run.

With instructions from PartSelect.com this was an easy fix. I tested the motor's electric as suggested and was satisfied that the Motor Module (WPL W10190935) would correct the problem. I was able to transfer my old ice maker from my old Roper Refrigerator/Freezer into my new Whirlpool Sidekick Freezer. Everything transferred directly except for the water fill tube. I ordered one on line and simply cut it to the right length, removed the cover plate inside the freezer compartment and the little sticker from the outside. ... Read more Inserted tube and fastened in place with two screws (not provided but was able to use the screws that were in the holes inside the freezer before the ice maker went in. Works great. By not buying the ice maker with the freezer I saved a hundred bucks or so.

Removed ice maker from fridge. Removed motor assembly (3) screws on cover, and (2) screws inside. Removed mold (3 screws on bottom) and replaced everything in reverse order.
