DU8900XT0 Whirlpool Dishwasher - Instructions

Loading and unloading the dishwasher can be a pain if the rollers are not aligned or falling off. This part was easy to install even though it didn't exactly match the original (very old) dishwasher parts.

I ordered a new rack, snapped the stuff together, and slid the old one out and the new one in. Fit beautifully. Piece of cake and much cheaper than a new dishwasher.

Checked fill line. No leak. Checked drain hose, found crack in hose. Ordered the part, replaced.

Removed hose clamps on drain to DM and garbage disposal. Replaced hose and tightened clamps. Checked for leaks. Buttoned up faceplate on bottom of DM.

I removed the old rollers. This took a while to figure out how to get the old rollers off. Also it was difficult due to the fact that they had been on the basket for a long time. As soon as I figured out how to take them off and put the new ones on, it was fairly easy. The instructions were non -existent which is why it took a while.

Remove retainer that holds door color slide in front of door & then remove the slide. Remove cardboard backing, remove electric latch release, remove latch & replace with new one. Open door & slide out the cup dispenser cover pin & spring & replace with new ones. This was all straight-forward & simple.

Assemblies snap on, no tools needed

I took the pin and i slide it through the first hole attached the spring then sldie it through the second hole and snap the cover on

Remove completely the old one and installed the new entire kit.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. You slide the pin that holds the door in the first hole. then you slide the spring in next. The you slide the pin through the last hole. After that you gently push the door onto the pin till it snaps into place. And your done.

You need a properly sized hex (Allen) wrench to get the screws out. Basically simple: remover bottom roller tray, unscrew large plastic holding bolt, remove lower spray arm, unscrew bolts (be sure the wrench is sized right or you might strip the heads), and replace gasket; then reverse procedure. Had to clip the part onto the upper rack. It was a little tight at first, then all of a sudden it just snapped in. Voila, as good as new.

Tried using my hands to bend back the locking plastic connectors enough to get them onto the metal upper storage rack;was afraid of breaking the connectors so I used my utility tool needle nose pliers to give me leverage. This time I was successful. Believe me,it was frustrating for what seemed a long time. No,for me it was not easy.

Turn off the breaker to the dishwasher - there will be water very near the motor and other electrical components. I first scooped and towelled all the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher. Next use pliers to loosen and slide back the hose clamp connected to the drain. Have a towel ready and pull the drain hose off the white check valve. The check valve can then be removed by unscrewing it - you may need to use pliers. Put the new one on and everything back together.
