DU1099XT3 Whirlpool Dishwasher - Instructions

I simply snapped off the old broken roller set and snapped on the replacements. No tools were even needed and now the rack rolls smoothly on all wheels! This has encouraged me to try other
repair projects.

removed the 2 screws that hold in the washer, pulled it out, with the door shut, removed and replaced the remaining spring , then went to the other side and did the one that broke off. then I reinstalled the unit. simple !

The lower dish rack rolls directly out of the dishwasher without problem - there is no permanent attachment. The new rack comes as a kit, which includes the 4 required dish rack wheels (Part # 6 in the diagram). One part (only) from the original dish rack needs to be removed and re-installed on the new rack - the upper spray arm tower ( ... Read more Part #5 in the diagram). That is easily removed from the original rack with a 1/8 counterclockwise turn, to disengage the 'feet', and installed on the new rack with a 1/8 clockwise turn. The kit is designed to allow for use on multiple models, so there are 'extra' parts left over, after it is used for the DU8500XX-2 dishwasher. These can be discarded.

This repair should have been rated "Easy" but because of a) the age of the dishwasher - 25 years and b) the close quarters to replace the spring, it was a bit of a challenge. If I could have pulled the dishwasher out a few inches, replacing the spring would have been a snap. But because of new flooring on top of existing flooring, that wa ... Read more sn't possible. Also the side cabinets were so close that getting a pair of pliers in there to hook the spring onto the door was tough. Ended up cutting out some cabinet facing that wasn't going to effect the look of things in order to get my hands and tools in there to get the hook end of the spring on the door. After I finally got it on and replaced the kickplate, sat back and had a cold one. Whew!

Pulled out the DW and removed old spring parts. Used screw driver and pliers to respring

Removed the two screws securing the dishwasher to the underside of countertop.
Pulled the washer out until the spring mechanism was visible. Vacuumed the area - it was filthy. Assembled the spring and adjusting hook. Took me 4 tries to get the spring into the proper tension slot. Having the other side intact helped in understanding h ... Read more ow it worked. Used long nosed pliers to bring spring onto the door retaing plate slot after trying unsuccessfully with regular pliers.

follow instructions, unscrew old part, screw in new part, worked like new

Turned off power at circuit breaker. Removed 4 phillips screws from area over oven door. Pulled control panel out and twisted to clear top rail. Pulled two wires off of old switch.Pulled old switch through panel. Inserted new switch. Attached the two wires to new switch. Replaced panel and inserted four screws. Turned on power - it ... All pieces just snap off and the new one just snap right back in place.

Remeber take a little time to do your repair correctly.

It is cheaper to repair an appliance than it is to replace.

Nozzle cap rubber housing was split and cracked. It simply unscrews. The replacement was a matter of screwing the new nozzle cap on. My wife was trusted with this installation. Believe me, this indicates how easy it was.

Since there were no printed instructions, we looked at the photo schematic.
Reassembly using the photo was easy by putting the old rack alongside the new one and adjusting the new rack spacing to match the old one.
We also had new wheels which snapped on.

Kit didn't have the center conical piece. Easy to switch tho. I am impressed at the speed of which the part arrived.

It took longer to take the 2 screws out than it did to put spring on.

It took all of 30 minutes from beginning to end remove the old parts and replaced them and run a diagnostic test before I could wash dishes. The parts were exact and Parts Select has always provided the right parts, shipped fast and never disappointed me.
