I neeeded an ice bucket for a refrigerator that was given to me. I wish if I could have oder the whole part as a whole. So, this is what I did. I order the Auger and Ice Bucket Assembly.Later, I realize when I received the part that I also needed the Cover bucket assembly and the Ice storage door. Now I do not know if when I get the rest o f the parts if it also comes with the screws that hold the cover bucket on or if I have to order the screws separate.

Transferred ice supply to another freezer. Removed ice maker unit from freezer and studied assembly. Removed the 5 screws holding the bucket in place while keeping track of which screw went where. The only positional component to remember was the motor control pivot retainer. Wiggled and fiddled to remove the old bucket. Wiggled and fiddl ed to put the new bucket in place. Replaced the 5 screws, dumped the reserved ice back into the bucket, and returned the ice maker unit to the freezer.

Ice chute from the ice maker frosted over. Cubes would not dispense

  • Dana from Pittstown, NJ
  • Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins
  • Screw drivers
1. Unplug the fridge
2. Removed the outer facing of the dispenser outside the freezer door. This is fairly easy, better with a tool (plastic scraper) that won't mar the finish.
3. Removed the plastic plate with labels -- water, ice, etc. This is done by sliding a small jewelers screwdriver into the slots on the left, middle and right in back of the plate. These are difficult to see without a flashlight.
4. Removed the four screws in the panel behind this plate.
5. Unpluged the large cable on the left side after the panel is freed.
5. Removed the rubber "dispenser" button. this just pulls off.
6. Remove the panel
7. Lift flapper up and remove. Clips hold this in.
8. Put new flapper in place.
9. Use reverse order to put back together.
Piece of cake. Ice maker no longer frosts up.!!!!

The light shield broke off several years ago and was hanging loosely.

  • katherine from charlotte, NC
  • Really Easy
  • 15 - 30 mins

Firts I removed the food from the freezer. Then I used the cordless drill/screw driver to loosen the broken piece of plastic. I inserted the plastic shield and screwed the shield in place. The majority of time was spent removing and replacing the food from the shelf.

Finding the part was made so easy by this website. I wish I h ad done it years ago but because I am not handy, I didn't think I could do it. Reading how easily others did it convinced me to try.
