CSX22DLB Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

Removed the door and loosened the bottom bracket and scraped the old cam off. Mounted new cam and tightned the bracket. Replaced door and it was a total sucess.

Turned the wire protector to the side. Turned out the old bulb and replaced it with the new. Turned the wire protector back in place and I'm like new.

Buy ( 2 ) cams !!!! removed hinge cover and hinge on top of the door, ( 2 screws )...lift door off of the bottom hinge and lay door on the floor, remove broken cam on bottom of door with nut driver, ( 2 screws ) , install new cam..... remove the bottom hinge off of the front of the refriger ... Read more ator with nut driver, (2 screws ).... saw rivit off and remove old cam, install new cam and secure with new bolt and nut,... reinstall hinge back on bottom front of refigerator.....replace door back onto the bottom hinge.....install top hinge back onto the top of the door....replace hinge cover......done !

Option 1) Order TWO cams (PS297995), drill out the rivet holding the frame's cam, and replace it with a nut and bolt. (See post on 07/19/09.)

We opted for Option 1 which was pretty easy. Option 2 would be even easier and take less time but costs about $9 more.

Pay close attention to how you disassemble everything. You might even want to take a picture. I taped all the screws right where I unscrewed them, to make sure they were replaced in the right section. Also use the picture diagram that on the computer.

We taped the door with 3 pieces of duct tape, then put boards under it. Used socket set to remove cam and then cut off rivet so we could just use a screw to keep in place. . . This was an extremely easy repair. The old light shield snapped out and the new one snapped in.

The disassembly and reassembly was straightforward but the parts diagram was very helpful to help you get it back together. Make sure you get the convexity of the clip that retains the clear plastic barrel to the auger pointing in the right direction. I did not replace the plate so I cleaned it and painted it with epoxy paint before I reassembled.

remove ice bucket and replace broken augar

there was rust inbedded in the ice cube. replaced the front plate in the ice maker bin. If you can't remember what parts you remover, take pictures of the replacement

Emptied the old draws and removed the old sliders. Took time to screw the new ones in. The draws are not as nice as the original ones.

I followed your terrific video. I first got all tools ready, covered a table in cardboard, and removed food from the fridge door. I removed the cap and screws on top of the door hinge. Read more em was that half the thin gasket under the broken cam was missing. No new gasket came with the part. I wanted the new cam to lay flat, so I made a partial gasket from a matchbook cover and filled the gap. It all went back together quickly. Just have tools ready beforehand. Ten minute job, unless you have to make a new gasket or part of one. Thanks, guys.

Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver I removed the top hinge cover from the top of the freezer door. Next I used the 5/16 nut driver to remove the 2 bolts holding the top hinge in place. Once it was removed I was able to lift the door off the bottom hinge. Placing the door on a flat work surface I loosened the bottom bolt holding the cam in ... Read more place. I next removed the bolt holding the hinge in place. I was then able to remove the broken cam and replace it with the new one. I then replaced the bottom bolt making sure the hole for the cam and the hole for the hinge are lined up. I then tightened the bottom hinge bolts. I carefully placed the door back on the bottom hinge and put the top hinge back on.

I ordered a cam riser for the refrigerator door. I watched the "how to" video the day I ordered the part. It took about a week to get the part, but I was ready when it arrived.
