CSX20BABCAD Hotpoint Refrigerator - Instructions

Discovered the door cam was broken. Did a search, found the part on PartSelect.com. Read the repair stories and realized I need two cams. So I just bought the whole hinge assembly figuring it would be a little easier and did not cost that much more.

Put blocks under the door, unbolted the old hinge from the refrig, and the old ... Read more cam from the door. Replaced them with the new parts, and I was all set. Took about 15 to 20 minutes. Had my wife stand by the door just in case it fell, which I knew it wouldn't.

Removed door and replaced bracket assembly. Door works like new. Self closing and sealing properly.

Removed guards and covers, (2 snap connections, 3 phillips head screws) Removed two 5/16" screws, removed door, removed cam from bottom of door, installed new items.

Worked Great!!!

Removed trim cap at top of door. Removed two hex head screws and lifted top hinge off door. Lifted door off lower hinge. Unscrewed broken cam riser from bottom of door and replaced with new part which was then screwed into place. Replaced door on lower hinge, Replaced upper hinge onto top of door, replaced screws and replaced trim. ... Read more

very easy, thanks for the great selection for parts.

Laid a 3 1/2" block of wood about a foot long under door, pried up door level with other door and used a couple of wedges to hold door up. Used 1/4" sockets and ratchet to remove and reinstall hinge.

Turned refrigerator off. Removed food from right hand (refig.) door. Closed door. Removed upper hinge cover with a standard Phillips screwdriver and then removed upper hinge by removing two 5/16" bolts using nutdriver. Read more rator and then removed the bottom hinge-post which was attached with two more 5/16" bolts. Installed new lower hinge post and rubbed a small amount of mineral oil on the closing cam (which is riveted to the hinge-post). Removed the old upper closing cam from the door (5/16" bolts) while it as lying horizontal on the table and installed new cam lubricated with a small amount of mineral oil. dropped the door in place, replaced upper hinge and cover. Replaced kick pan. Done.

Use several wood blocks and propped fridge dooe up and someone else steadied the door while I replaced the hinge. Pretty easy.

First I bought the right tool to remove the hinges.
Then replaced the hinge with the two cams.
Now the door closes itself.

Just remove all items in door shelves, remove screw holding top hinge cover on. Remove two bolts holding top hinge and remove hinge from door. Carefully open door and lift out of bottom hinge. they sell the cam piece but the instructions says not to replace only one part. so beware you need both the cam and hinge as a kit .

I read the details and bought the pair, as directed from other bloggers. I got the hinge piece, followed others advice and had it all done in not time! Saved a lot of money and will use this website again!

First removed plastic cover off top hinge with phillips screwdriver. Used nut driver to loosened screws on upper hinge to 1/2 inch out and then used wood blocks to shim up door as high as possible while still in closed position. Lowererd door to sit on bottom hinge and then adjusted position of top hinge before tightened those screws with nut driver. Reinstalled plastic cover. Piece of cake!

The refrigerator door would now close and notice broken plastic on the floor. It is a 1990 or so GE fridge. To repair - ordered the Cam Riser (the plastic piece that broke and the matching lower door bracket.
