Microwave began arcing internally.
First called for a repairman. They didn't work on any thing over ten years old because "parts are not available". They would look at it for $86.00 service call. I found a video on You Tube that gave a good description of the problem and how to repair. I first looked in the oven and found no bare metal that would cause the problem. I then removed the Stirrer cover and stirrer in top of oven where I discovered that the stirrer had been arcing to the cabinet. Easy fix. I sanded down the damaged area to clean metal then repainted with microwave paint. I installed new stirrer Part Number PS2343147 and replaced Stirrer Fan Cover. Microwave works like new.
This is an OTR microwave oven, needs to be removed to diagnose problem. I did not diagnose problem properly, I searched online for possible causes, read that (99%)percent of the time the interlock switch was bad and replacement should solve my problem. It was also stated to be an easy fix,15- 45 minutes depending on ability. I ordered the relay switch. Took the oven down then removed outer shell. With my multimeter I began to test, fuses(2), interlock switches(3)and transformer. 3 interlock switches were ok, fuses were fine, and had power to the transformer, meter could not read output of transformer because of high voltage, (2300v). I'm down to magnetron (about a hundred bucks) or the touch pad/ circuit board. I have a countertop micro that I'm putting in place of the OTR. As far as Partselect, my item was shipped and delivered on time, instructions for changing that part was quite accurate. Would order from here again, just do my homework first.
Removed unit from above stove removed outer housing, interior shield and tested the 4 door relays. One was not working. Replaced parts and re installed unit over stove.
the transformer started to smoke very badly while in use
I removed the cover and was able to see the burned up transformer. I removed the transformer and did a yahoo search for the part. I found you guys and ordered the part. the part arrived as advertised and I installed it. The microwave has been working now for 2 weeks. One word of advice make sure to use masking tape and mark the wire hookup locations. I used my Blackberry movie as well before I removed the old transformer. I was able to see the wire hookup locations when it was time to reinstall.
I purchased one relay switch (there are three) took one out one by one and replced it with the new one and tested it each time until it worked. Super easy and saved me hundreds of dollars by doing this myself.
Instructions did not match the assembly of the ice maker.
I managed to move the auger far enough to allow me to insert the cup-drive and then realign the auger with the new cup-drive. I also have had one to break very shortly after installing it. This is my second part to replace and this one went really smooth, since I understood that the initial parts installation instructions did not apply on my ice maker.
Power, light, and clock work, micro/turntable not working
Much like the other post: 1. Removw vent case on top (3 screws) 2. Remove cover with control buttons (1 screw). 3. Removed bottom relay switch and replaced. Tight working space so be patient. Took 15 minutes Needle nose pliers used to crimp connector onto switch
I used a medium sized flat screwdriver to insert between the upper door hinge pin and the microwave hinge bracket. I applied prying pressure by twisting on the screwdriver and the door fell off. Recommend making sure you have a good hold of the door - It almost got my toes. Installation of new door was a little more concerning with the thought of damaging my new door. I placed the lower door hinge pin into the lower bracket. Placing the upper hinge into position for prying. I recognized it was going to be a tight fit. I used the screwdriver in the same way as take off. I struggled a few times with thoughts of cracking the plastic on my new door, but finally pried enough to get the pin in the hole. The plastic around the inner door popped out of place around the hinge, but snapped back in without damage. A fairly simple project that got my heart throbbing a few times with thoughts of damage control, but all is well that ends well.
Front cracked by the handle. I already replaced handle.
The old door came off easy quick. the new door was a little different. I used a flat head screw driver, popped the bottom hinge in first and I did the same on the top. The top you had to use more pressure and use a little more force to rotate the hinge to the pin hole.
Took longer than it should due to no instructions being in box. The removal of the old door took approx 30 secs and was self explanatory. Once I realized I had to remove the plastic inner panel on the new door to re-install it, it also took only minutes. Could have been an easy fix with instructions.
Determining the root cause was fairly simple - but one should always identify the basic repair part first that may be the root cause - in this order - Diode - HV Capacitor - Magnetron due to costs of fixing the issue. I found that after replacing the two major components it may have been just the Diod/Rectifier a low coat resolution - but one never knows if the issue was one or many problems that wouldn't allow the Microwave to heat. The team at PartSelect was very helpful and was able to expidite the Magnetron to my residence to start the repair process KUDO's to the Customer Service Team!
Door and latch would not close and connect to main body
Open existing microwave door, Remove door interior trim, Lift door above hinge holes, Move top hinge pin away from microwave, Move bottom hinge pin away from microwave. Remove replacement door interior trim, Set bottom hinge pin in bottom microwave hinge, Set top hinge pin into top microwave hinge, install door interior trim, close microwave door and check closing. Door would not close completely to allow microwave operation.
My husband did it by just taking off the panel on the top of the microwave and replace old with new. We cleaned up some of the accumulated grease as well on the microwave. He had a little problem with the screws. We have done this before so no big problem. Thanks
