My part was the oven burner for my Tappan stove. I followed a very helpful you tube video. All I had to do was use 1/4" screw-type screwdriver (not sure what you call it), remove screw, pull out each side, pull part away from wire; and then insert the new oven burner!! SIMPLE and I'm a 68-year old widow! I was proud.

Screw drivers
I flipped the 220 circuit breaker to shut off the electricity. I unscrewed the old element (2 screws). One problem I ran into was that there was insulation packed tight around the old wire, so when I went to pull it out one of the connectors came undone. So I had to take the small plate off the back of the stove and fish the wire back

through. I connected the new wires and screwed the element to the back. I only needed a square head screw-driver for the whole job. It would've taken me 5 minutes if I wouldn't have had to fish the wire back through. Still, it only took around 20 minutes and was really easy. The element cost me less than half of what an appliance repair shop charged. I'm a woman, and I've never attempted anything like this before but the video made it so easy to do! Thanks for saving me a bundle of money!

Loosen 2 screw with a 1/4 nut driver. Pulled element out to expose connections. Carefully disconnected old element and replaced with new element. Pushed wires back into holes and replaced the screws. (Note: Be careful not to let the disconnected wires slip back through the holes. This almost happen to me)

Too dark to see, so left the power on so I cold use the oven light. Big mistake, shorted the fuse at the main box. No power in part of the house until finally figured out how to trip the fuse back on. Lesson learned. Never work on anything electrical without first turning off the power.
