Elle - For model number CER3525AAQ

June 22, 2022

I have a Magic Chef electric range that is roughly 17 years old. Recently, I noticed the oven temperature is off by 50 degrees in either direction. I bought an oven thermometer and place it in the oven. When I preheat the oven to 350 the oven beeps at 350 as normal but the thermometer reads 300 then during the cooking cycle (approximately 15 minutes) the oven thermometer reads 400. What would be the cause of this fluctuation?

Hello Elle, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Long Oven Sensor. The it measures and regulates the internal temperature of your oven cavity. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. We hope this helps!
