CCGS985SET5SS General Electric Range - Instructions

I was at my in-laws and they expressed how they needed to buy a new stove, since it stopped working. They explained the problem to me and I immediately checked the broiled (it worked fine). Knowing that stoves have 2 electric igniters, i knew 1 was bad.
The site got me the part in 3 days (regular shipping).

- Removed 2 screws that hold the floor of the oven.
- Removed 2 nuts that held the igniter to the oven.
- Removed the bottom drawer of the oven, and unplugged the igniter.
- Finally, I screwed in the new igniter, fed the wire down to the plug and plugged it in.
- Then I tested the oven before putting it back together, IT WORKED!)
The only negative was, when I was removing the racks and pans from the oven, one of them happened to be filled with oil for frying, and it got all over me. Be prepared for anything when working on someone else's appliance.

Removed oven convection fan cover for more room to remove/replace lower oven bottom. Deflector is attached underneath oven bottom and you will need new self tapping sheet metal screws to replace old ones. The job was made very simple primarily due to the repair video that was available on your site when I ordered the part that I was looking for. The job can be done in less than 15 min, but it took me a little bit longer because of some rusted screws that didn’t want to come out so easily. The door comes off very easy by opening the door about 6 inches and pulling up and off of the door hinges. Again for a novice like me the video was a life saver.

Unhooked old one, installed new one. Piece of cake.

It was so easy ! take out 2 screws , unplug old igniter, plug in new igniter, replace screws and turn on the heat!! Thanksgiving Dinner is back to my house with the whole Family!!!

Well first off ordered the part on Monday was here by Tuesday before I went to work. Was able to replace the part the next day and had pizza for lunch for me and the little woman.

Uninstalled the igniter and reinstalled the new one.

Repair was very simple. It was a five minute job including time taken to remove old part with a screwdriver and then it was a matter of plugging in the new part ant attaching it to the oven.

removed bottom drawer, disconnected screws holding burner in place. unplug igniter. remove bottom tray from inside oven, remove 1 screw holding burner in place near door, remove whole burner assembly. take 2 screws holding element in place. screw new element to burner and reverse procedure. only tool i used was a 1/4 in nut driver.

replaced the glow bar ignitor

replaced the igniter by first removing the pan inside the oven, two screws in the rear. Igniter is attached to the burner with two machine screws, nut driver or small wrench is needed. Remove the lower drawer and un-clip plasitc connection located in the rear up high. Pull the wire and clip through into oven. Replace with new inginater, ... Read more pull wires and clip through the back of oven and tighten screws, plug clip in, replace pan and plug in oven, done.

Remove botton pan of the oven to get at the igniter, remove bottom drawer to acess wires ,remove 2- screws from the igniter replace then replace oven bottom and drawer.

removed the screws holding unit in pkce ,unplugged unit'Then I had to cut plug in off new unit and put old plug on new unit. the new unit only had 1 plug and the stove had a2 plug systtem. The put unit back in by replacing thw screws.

Researched problem came to conclusion that igniter was not staying hot (seemed to intermittently go on and off ). One connector and two screws problem solved and the cherry pies are back in my oven and ready for dessert! : )
