C236-C Jenn-Air Cooktop - Instructions

Disable cicuit! remove 2 screws on control housing, lift housing. Remove retaining washers from mounting posts (a trifle difficult, but drill into them with an 1/8" bit...they'll break off enough to grab with needlenose pliers). Mount & wire new switch. The replacement retaining washers are too small...hold them in visegrips & ream the h ... Read more ole with a larger drill bit. Place washer in a magnetic hex drive bit, align over post & tap with hammer to start them, then use a small socket to tap them home. Screw down control housing. Enable circuit...voila!

Easily removed the housing - difficult part was removing old fasteners from posts - took 20 minutes caerfully using knive, needle nose pliers, screw driver. Used old fasteners - new ones provided were too small for posts.

My wife help take the door off. It was a little heavy . The door came apart very easy and went back the same way.We save over $300 by doing it our selfs.

easy enough. Before you start, draw a picture of where the wires go on the old switch ( or take a picture).

Un screwed the two screws in the downdraft section enough to release the unit that holds the surface burner controls.Then removed the control nob, unscrewed the two screws that holds the switch in the unit, removed the wires, making sure the color of the wires were placed on the same contact point. Changed out surface burner switch.Unscrewed two screws, changed plug onto new switch.Don't forget to turn off power!

1. Remove the exhaust vent cover, located in the center of the top of the range. It just lifts off.
2. Swivel the clamp 90 degrees to release the filter.
3. Remove the filter and throw it away
4. Place new filter in place and lock in place by rotating the swivel clamp back 90 degress.
5. Replace the exhaust vent cover

unscrew control box assembly from stove

slide control out of stove

unscrew burner control out of assembly

transfer wiring from old control to new in same relative location

reassemble in reverse order

restore power

Remove 4 screws that holds down panel;removed dial;removed screw that held switch to panel. Took off wire one at a time ann put on corresponding lug. Repeated above in reverse.

Broke both crimp on washers. Drilled two appropriate holes in a dowell rod, used these holes to hold the new crimp on washers. Then drove the washers onto the switch's built in pegs.

It was easy enough I unplugged the stove. removed the screws under the control panel,removed the panel, removed the two screws holding the switch in place. moved the electrical wires from the old switch and placed them on the new switch. put it all back together in the reverse order.

Opened the back of the cooktop and found upper right element control switch burned. I removed the retaining screws and wires and spent two weeks chasing the switch at a local dealer.
