ARS2760BW Amana Refrigerator - Instructions

Viewed the repair video. Removed covering. Replaced limit switch, control board, and solenoid. Very easy repair!

removed three nuts from the top of the door diconected the electrical connections for the ice and water in the door. Removed door by lifting it up about 2 inches, set it aside put new hinge pieces in placed put everything back together. writing this took more time. wanted to add, bought at 2 pm on thursday was at my house by 10am the n ... inserted a knife between the switch and the plastic interior in order to pop the switch out.
then took off the 2 wires on the old switch put them on the new switch and reinserted the switch into the plastic interior.

Turned off main water line at frig. disconnected water line. Lossened 1 screw- removed old unit and cut the two water lines going to the ice and water outlets. Pushed the water lines into the quick connects of the new unit --reconnected the water line-- rescrewed the unit to frig. turn on water . it was fixed.

removed one holding screw (left side center}, used pliers to hold motor shaft so I could unscrew auger drive fork (counter clockwise), then unscrew two screws for ice bucket door magnet push lever, unscrew four screws to auger motor and toss damaged ice bucket support enclosure and don't forget to screw in that one holding screw on lower ... Read more left side .. then remount both components onto new thin plastic ice bucket support enclosure ... reassemble remaining ice bucket right side wall and slide in main ice bucket with auger. Not a big fix, but part & shipping was just short of $80 ..

Pull refrigerator out from wall to shut off water and power. Remove ice bin, pulling front down then out. Remove screw at bottom of icemaker, then pull down to release two clips, Pull out a couple inches to get hand behind icemaker to release wiring harness connector. Make sure ice bin is fully inserted, or unit will not function.

I took a chance and ordered a switch that is next to the top of the door. looked for how to remove it easily done in ten minutes works fine last long time.

First turned off the water and unplugged the refrigerator and then removed the old ice maker by first removing the side cover plate and then next removed the ice level detector. Read more the water comes into the new icemaker by adapting a CPVC street ell to fit into the hole on the side and then hook up the water supply. Installation is just the reverse of removal.

Our Refirgerator had custome wood covering to match the cabinets. Be sure to take the covering off first. There are four screws on the left edge fram that need to be removed and two on top of the tpe edge frame. The panels then slide right off. There are two "plug in connections that have to be disconnected to lift the dispenser unit out. Take care not to damage or separate the connector wire from the keypad and the circuitboard.

The new solenoid and flapper assembly is different than the original. My guess is the orginal design was part of the problem and the redesign allows the solenoid to work better. I was suprised the new assembly did not come with a tension spring... SO be careful and DO NOT loose the tension spring from the old assembly. there are two screws that hold the olde solenoid in plae wonce you remove the flapper and tension spring. Put the new solenoid in, hold the tapper out and put the flapper assembly in. Rotate the flapper rod until you can seat the solenoid tapper. Replace the tension Spring and then reassemble as in reverse order.

The repair was relatively easy. After the ice tray is removed. The plastic box holding it has 3 screws holing it. After those are removed, the tray will begin to slide out. Read more d is removed from the tray with 4 screws. The only challenging part was removing the ice auger spindle. I was warned that it had reverse threads, and I may need to hit it with a hammer. However, I needed to purchase a thin set of vice grips to hold the shaft, while I turned the auger spindle. It took quite a bit of umph the get the thread connection to move. Re-installation was easy after that.

Replacing the icemaker is pretty simple. Three screws, an electrical connector. Hardest part is getting to the icemaker since the freezer is below the refrigerator.

installed replacement ice maker kit. 1st removed power. next loosened 2 upper phillips screws. then removed lower phillips screw and lifted and removed old ice maker. released wiring connector and pulled entire unit out of freezer. then i reversed the procedure to install the old unit. check youtube for instructional videos.

I made use of instructions for other users, see 'My ice maker has been shedding.....' and they were very helpful. The one problem not covered - the instructions that came with the new icemaker said to 'remove the bearing and inlet from the old icemaker and install in the new icemaker', but gave no instructions for how to accomplish this. ... The old inlet has a square opening in the back and a u-shaped knockout in the side. The new one has a round opening in the side and square knockout in the back)

After several attempts to remove them, I gave up and used the new inlet with the knockout removed. I did not attempt to cover the side opening and it worked fine that way - no leaks.

I read the previous repair story and agree with the author that the screw behind the front piece was difficult to remove and re-install. If I had a magnetized nut driver I think it would have been easier. There were no installation instructions so I relied upon the repair experiences. I am not a good handyman but was able to install the new ice maker

, to remove the inlet tube holder/guide gadget thingee: (1) remove the three Phlipscrews from the motor end of the housing. (2) pull the housing straight off the end. (3) remove two Philips screws in deep holes that hold the ice tray onto the motor housing. (4) this frees the ice tray assembly, which you have to pull out, freeing the rota ... Read more ting blades, from which (5) you slide the sxle out of the middle of the inlet-tube thingee, so (6) you can then remove the inlet gadget from the ice tray.

You then reverse these instructions to reassemble with the correct inlet gadget. The tricky part is the front cover that hides the ice-tray from view. That cover has a couple of ears that have to fit into mating holes in the motor housing before you replace the two deep-hole Philips screws that hold the tighten the ice-tray assembly back onto the motor housing.

So it's too bad they don't see the ice-maker assembly with all the knock-outs inplace, so you can knock out the one you want. Other than that, it would have been no more trouble than other people have reported in working in the tight space inside the freezer compartment.
