After examining the burner unit I noticed that one of the male contact spades was burned and look deformed. After removing the spade I discovered that it had been originally manufactured incorrectly. I went on line to try and find the part. I found it at this site . I ordered 2 of the spades and replaced the deformed spade and anothe r one that looked like it had gotten a little hot. She tried the unit and it worked perfectly. She had not used that burner unit for a very lengthy time. The investigation of the problem took a little time, but the repair went very fast. Moral is :" If a spade doesn't look right, it probably isn't", but either the individual spade or plug can be replaced. This site is now my "GO TO" place for parts.

There was sparking coming form the module and I when I took it apart I discovered that the burner itself was not the problem. The metal parts that held the burner in place had come loose and was shorting out against the 220 line.
  • John E from Centreville, MD
  • Easy

I used a nut driver to take the module apart. When I discovered the problem I simply threw the module out but kept the ceramic top and then ordered a new stove top. The burners would be a snap to install if the clips that secure it in place had not ALL broken off. All you do is pull the wires off with a pair pliers and set the new unit in place and reattach the wires. All that would be left would be to reattach the ceramic top and set the module back into place on the stove top. The modules were discontinued and no longer available any place. Believe me I tried. The delivery to me from Parts Perfect was very quick and without any hassles. I had no problem returning the burner. I would recommend these people any time.

Removed bottom cover. Opened the door to take pressure off old springs. Removed the both old springs, with pliers. Replaced with the new springs. The new springs are not adequate for our heavy door. Our door has a wood, cabinet matching cover. The door falls down, if not held firmly. The springs are not as heavy duty as the old ones.

Removed six screws holding glass top to metal base.Remove glass top, found coll burnout.Ordered new coil from Parts Select-8"(measure just to be sure). When repairing remove two wires connected to coil ,lift coil of spring base and remove two screws on bottom of old coil, install on new one.Do not screw them in all the way, leave a gap abo ut 1/8". Adjust spring base by bending it up towards you, this keeps pressure on the coil to the glass top.Install new coil by placing it on the base and making sure the two screws lock into holes in spring base.Reinstall wires and glass top and your ready to go. Note:Make sure everything is correct with your new part before you start, wires, size etc. Nothing to it.
