It is a cylindrical component located inside the control area of the microwave. As microwaves use high voltage, exercise extreme caution during the repair process to avoid injury. Even when unplugged, the capacitor retains a significant electrical charge. To replace it, start by unplugging the microwave and removing the glass turntable and support before proceeding. Refer to the user guide for instructions on accessing the capacitor within the cabinet. Discharge the capacitor by creating a short circuit between each terminal and between each terminal and the chassis. Do so by using a pair of insulated-handle needle-nose pliers to simultaneously touch both terminals. Alternatively, you can use a well-insulated screwdriver, touching one terminal and gently sliding it forward to the other terminal, holding it there for a few seconds. Avoid touching the metal part of the tool and be aware that this can result in a loud and startling popping sound. Once discharged, you can safely disconnect the wires and remove the mounting fasteners. Please note that this OEM replacement part is sold individually.
