AGDS902 Amana - Instructions

I am sure I saved a bunch of money for an outside repair. It was so simple I was embarassed that I did not attempt the repair sooner. Removed two screws from old burner head lifted it up unplugged the electrode wire replaced with new burner head put the two screws back in place and I was finished.

Remove two phillips screws, lift the burner head up and remove the wire from the electrode. DO NOT DROP THE WIRE!!! It will fall into the stove top, adding much more time and frustration to this very simple repair. Reverse these steps to complete the repair.

Removed old igniter and replaced with new one.Tested oven and it went on. You need a phillips screwdriver to remove two screws and a small socket for the third screw to remove the igniter cage. Then pull out the wires from under the oven and disconnect. Reverse procedure to install new igniter. Reuse original connectors. Be very careful ... We unplugged the stove and turned off the gas. We slid the oven door off just to make it easier. Unscrewed 3 screws holding the igniter in place. Pulled the igniter out from the back of the stove. Removed the burners 2 screws per burner disconnected the wires to the burners. Lifted the oven top off removed original ignition module. Installed wires to the new module taking note of replacement location. Than mounted new ignition module. Removed back panel, unplugged sensor, removed sensor from inside oven (2 screws), replaced with new part.

Took off the burner by unscrewing the two screws and lifting out the burner/igniter together being careful to not let the electrical connection come apart. If it does then you have to take all 4 burners off so you can lift the whole oven/burner top. Disconnect the old igniter by (more than likely) drilling out the old screw, if you are lu ... Read more cky maybe the old screw holding the igiter will actually unscrew. If not, you can put a new screw in to hold the new igniter, put it all back together and youre done.

Using a meter, we determined each of the four igniters had continuity from end to end and also had continuity from the end of each igniter back to the spark module. Roommate did the repair..so I don't know. I did the research online, the igniter solved the problem. Saved us buying a new oven!

The burner has two screws holding it in place. I remover those and lifted the burner up. I then disconnected the wire attached to the igniter that was on the old burner and attached it to the igniter that was pre-installed on the new burner. Read more ought the burner assembly is that I was unable to unscrew the screw underneath that held the igniter in place on the old burner.

The key to this repair was making sure I typed in the correct model number and serial number so that I got the correct part. I had read here that a couple of folks had received the wrong temperature sensor (i.e. it had the male plug instead of the female plug). It was easy to remove the 2 screws that held it in place but I could not pull enough of the wire out to access the plug. The local repair guy pulled to oven out and removed the back in order to unpluy the bad sensor and plug in the new one. It was actually kind of nice that he came as he used a digital thermometer to cycle the oven through a couple of warm ups to see if it was actually working correctly. It worked fine and my wife was happy again. The $75 I spent on the repairman was darn well worth it. "Happy wife = happy life!"

I had already removed the old hinges by removing the screws/bolts and removing the broken hinges from the back side through the drawer below the oven that I had already removed. Took the new hinges and screwed the two metal screws into the top hole on the new hinges after placing hinge in vise, one screw on each then removed them and pla ... Read more ced them to the side. Determined the right tap from my tap set, and then tapped the bottom two holes on the new hinges, one on each. Placed the bolts that came with the new hinges into the holes I had just tapped, screw them in, then I removed them and placed to the side. Took hinges and bolts / screws to the oven, inserted hinges in through the drawer that I had removed up to each side where hinges would come back out to the front of the oven. Placed screws / bolts one at a time through oven door frame into the hinge on the back side, and then threaded them into the hinges and tightened. Replaced oven door onto new hinges and checked for correct operation. Door works like new.

bought used, oven light was damaged from previous repair attempt, without installation instructions removing the fixture was tricky, had to bend the housing tabs inward w/screwdriver to release fixture (more damage). once out the new fixture went in place quite easily, wires simply hook up, re install back panel, re-connect power, Have a ... F3 = Sensor failure. After reading other stories here it seemed like a quick DIY fix. It was fairly easy, except tham my Amana Model had very short leads to the sensor that made me have to pull the oven out to get at the back. It was still easy, however it did not fix the problem. Ultimately I hired a repair person and they found that the ... Read more underlying problem was a door hinge that had prevented the top of the door from sealing well and letting heat escape up near the control board. Over the years this had damaged the board, which is old and no longer made and the whole unit was totalled. Bummer for me but it was good that I tried and I will use PartSelect again (hopefully not soon, though).

Take top cover off take gear box cover off. check all gears for wear and clean all of above. Be sure you identify all parts needed before you order plus assembly grease!
