I removed drain hose to install 1 yr old dishwasher. Installed it fd water leak at drain hose. Removed it, found collection chamber was collapsed. This was a factory bo-bo. Collection chamber is made of p. V. C. I also had a problem with the sump filter ball. Called g. E. The told me to just put the ball in the chamber, not, the ball has to come in from the top, removing the spray arm, sump cover, major disassembly. Now I know how to completely dismantle a dishwasher. Home depot had no idea what I was talking about???now works great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dishwasher wouldn't drain

Once the new motor and pump kit arrived. I removed the dishwasher, turned it upside down and replaced the motor and pump with the new one per the directions. Difficulty came in feeding the electrical wire/plug back through the cabinets. Once done, turned on the dishwasher, filled the tub, then manually moved the dial to drian. The water s till would not drain from the tub. I searched further for the problem. Here it is; Found the air gap tube was plugged with food. Once I removed, cleaned and reinstalled the air gap, the tub drained fast and everything works great. So, I hope you folks put this up in your troubleshooting section for others to check before buying a pump and motor kit. If you had, I would have been able to check out the air gap, clean it out first before spending $140.00 for a pump and motor kit I didn't need. Anyway, lessons learned..Jeff

First of all the part I ordered came a lot sooner than expected.
I thought it would take 5 to 10 days.
I ordered it on a Tuesday and it was at my door on Thursday.
The part was difficult to take off as this was the first time I attempted this.
When the new part came, I saw that I went to too much trouble to take the ol d one off.
It was installed in about 40 minutes and we were off and running.

I watched the video and did exactly what he did. I am a novice when it comes to repairs. I learn as I go. This repair went flawlessly. Ordering was quick and easy. The part arrived quickly. The repair took less time than expected. The part was what I needed and nothing else broke or went wrong when repairing the original problem. It was a 100% success.

The lower dishrack just lifted out and the new one placed in. The upper rack had stops at the end of the slides which could be removed with the help of a flat blade screw driver, old rack slipped out, new rack slipped in and the stops replaced on the end of the slide which keeps that upper rack from coming al the way out of the dishwasher . There was a link to a "how to do video" on the email order confirmation. It just gave me reassurance that I could easily do the job.

Bent upper rack slide from tripping accident

  • Hal from Rancho Mirage, CA

My wife grabbed the upper rack as she fell backwards across the front of the open dishwasher. It broke her fall - she is fine thank goodness - but the roller slides broke and the rail was destroyed. The dishwasher repair was easy - just had to put new parts in place. The detail parts explosion helps in determining how all physically goe s together. Everything works as good as new. I used the pliers to remove one of the old wheel axles that was attached to the basket.

The inlet pump stop working
5 of 5 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Vanessa from FT WASHINGTON, MD
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set, Wrench (Adjustable), Wrench set
Received part, removed lower panel and shut water and power off to appliance. Used flash light to see under dishwasher, removed the two screws that held part in place. Loosed clamp that held the water tube in place to part. Placed towel down to catch water. Pulled the line out so I could get to the nut that is attached to inlet part. U nhooked the plug after all water was gotten up. The main knuckle that's attached to the pump was on so tight that I took it to my local gas station for an mechanic to unscrew it for me....I have arthritis in my hands. Station is only two mins from me and wasn't a problem for them to do for me. Came back put fresh Teflon tape on joint and reattached it to new part. Attached all hoses and clamps, plugged electrical prongs back in and attached bracket back to body of dishwasher. Turned water on and checked for leaks. Turned power back on and ran a cycle of dishes to wash....all went well. If the knuckle was on so tight the job would have only taken about 40 min at best.

excessively delayed delivery

  • Bonnie from KILLINGTON, VT
  • Very Difficult

I couldn't do the repair because the parts arrived a week after I left, even though I paid extra for speedy delivery. And there was ZERO customer support - the phone message said they would not answer the phone, and the email response was a generic FAQ.
