Impeller bolts to plastic chopper mount which is screwed to the top of the motor. Threads on chopper mount were stripped causing impeller to not spin fast enough (replacement mount, which is part of the chopper kit, is metal). Installtion was not difficult.
You have to reach underneath the washer and wedge a screwdriver on top of th e motor to hold the shaft from moving.

I followed the you tube video exactly. Very easy to do. I did not tighten the screws sequentially as shown in the video, rather I did the opposite ones to make sure nothing was skewed. Very easy, about 20 minutes.

with dishwasher running I would open the door and notice the lower spray arm was not turning. I removed all parts in the tub and clean off all the accumulated gunk (likely combination of food and soap scum - like a white paste) . The accumulator screens where more than 50% clogged with no way to clean the inside. I replaced the accumul ator part and the lower spray arm because 2 holes had gunk in them that would not come out. dishes are now getting clean and I am switching to liquid - no more powder as I suspect it caused the build up over time.

I know that I have very hard water, but am reluctant to get a softener. I hope that changing the "guts" of the water delivery to my dishwasher will help...already replaced the filters which helped too... so far, it's a little better.

Installation was a breeze. Took off the upper, middle and lower spray arms. Had to loosen sc rews in filter assembly to remove old manifold. Popped everything into place... had to scrape mineral deposits off clips that support manifold and upper spray arms.
Easy...

Soap dish full of west soap, dishes not clean: Isolated to stripped pump shaft, foreign object jammed chopper

Troubleshooting: Noted soap dispenser full of apparently wetted soap, drying cycle dried to brick-like mess. Dishes full of soap particles, not clean. Water through floor and basement ceiling.

Pulled all racks (note arrows on ends of rack supports), used vice grips to remove bottom spray arm (better to use washcloth around lit tle knob to protect from vice grips), unscrewed all torx fasteners to get assembly out. Had to carefully maneuver pump housing out since it attached to water distribution assy. Found stripped sleeve, but didn't understand function until I saw similar post on this site (Thanks!). Ordered seal and chopper kit, paid extra for "2 day" delivery and rx the next week due to holiday weekend (what's up with that? I ordered a linksys security camera on saturday and rx on Sunday from "Lasership"). Followed included instructions - worked fine. Note assembly order of pump with respect to water distribution assembly - I assembled and dissassembled twice due to forgetting interference.

1. Removed door inside plastic panel, 2. Removed additional screws holding panel to hinge brackets and control panel, 3. Figured out that this would all have been easier if I'd unhooked door hinge springs first (access from sides), 4. Removed isulation from old panel and reglued to new panel, 5 Reassembled, hooking up door springs last. Voila!

PartSelect web-page for this model listed the handle as the most often ordered part. It arrived the next day after the order. It was necessary to remove about a dozen Torx screws to remove the back from the door. The power was turned off at the breaker. Two electrical fittings were removed from the broken handle and placed on the new one, and the part was put into position and the door back screws reinserted. I was fortunate to have the appropriate Torx driver and suggest that PartSelect offer such an unusual tool with the part.

I removed the main plastic bolt with a pliers and then just used a screwgun with a star tip for all the screws.
I am a 43 year old woman with no experience and I was able to figure it out. The machine cleans much better now.

I removed the inside door panel, unplugged the old assembly and replaced with the new. The only caveat is that I THOUGHT the unit came WITH a new plastic handle, and it did not. It was very difficult to remove the handle from the old unit, and to install it in the new unit. The description was not adequate. I had read other blogs and th ey warned of the same missing handle, and I thought I had ordered correctly. The repair is fine, but the old handle is cracked, so I dont know how long it will last.
