I knew the chances of all the freon leaking out was unlikely so I looked at the wiring to the compressor and there was a capacitor and a starter/overload so i figured I would start there. I went on line and found the parts at this site and they were less than the minimum service call charge for a service tech so I figured what the heck le ... I ordered the parts and they were there in less time than a service tech could come out and i installed the parts and guess what for 90.00 in parts and 15 minutes in time I repaired my refrigerator. Thanks guys, It took less time to order the parts than it did to make the repair so thanks, your website rocks and is very well designed so my hat is off to you guys!

i had used your web site before and i read several problems that your readers had. i went to the back of the unit, removed the bottom cover and right there the i found the run capacitor and i chaged it. since i had only ordered this part to save money i went back and ordered the Start Device which when i took it off it was completely burn ... Read more ed. the replacement part came labeled with 2 different compressor #, so i picked the one that i had and unpluged each wire. the part may differ from the one that it's in the unit but it worked when i pluged everything back on. it also helps to take a picture of everything before removing the wires in case you have to leave it and come back later. i hope to use this refrigerator another 10 years. thank you all for your help.

pulled switch from door ,unpluged it and then plued in new switch.

I needed Whirlpool part #1167617 but it is discontinued. Also Canada Whirlpool will not deliver it to the US, and Home depot parts doesn't have it. They told me to Google it. After speaking to a customer service person who said I could return the part if it didn't fit, I ordered. It was delivered in two days and fit like a glove. So if you still have this older unit air conditioner that still works and you want to use it a little longer, PartSelect knob #BT3075631 will replace Whirlpool knob part #1167617. Cosmetically, it's a little bigger on the outside but fits and works nicely.

I accidently broke the knob on our air conditioner. I unplugged the unit and removed the broken pieces and made sure that the actual on-off switch was not broken. Removed old knob--already off because it was broken. Put new knob on. No problems because it was an easy fix. Delivery was quick.

We have a place that has window units of heat and A/C. In Dec. my business partner went down and called that the unit would not turn on, I told him to check the breakers and plug but he had no idea what I was saying. Read more , I turned the knob and nothing moved, I pulled the knob and found it cracked and broken. I put plyers to it and turned it on. I ordered the knob from you on line , got it in two days , heater fixed.

I had a son put in the new light bulbs. Rather simple

Philips screwdriver
Removed screw (1)
Removed light bulb
Put in new light bulb
Closed door to bulb compartment
Returned screw.

inst said,"50 pct of the time this calls for new capacitor," so we changed the capacitor. Same prob. It also said,"25 pct of the time it's the bi-metal thermostat" So we ordered it. We removed the plastic rear panel from inside the freezer comp. using small nut driver. Here we found much ICE surrounding the defrost unit, three inches thic ... Read more k. We thawed the whole mess. and the freezer has worked fine ever since. I think my habit of getting ice cubes from the inside container rather than from the ice cube dispenser, had kep t the freezer door open too much, interfering with the normal defrost cycle and allowing ice to build up over time so that it finally defeated the system. My new rule, "get ice cubes only from the front."

Removed the access panel on back of unit located the Run Capacitor on the compressor and removed the bad one and put the new one on and pugged refrigerator back in and it started up and works fine now
