Step #1: Remove 2 screws at the inside top of the oven door that holds the inner/outer oven door together. Step #2: Remove the screws from the inner door that hold the plastic handle end caps to the door. Tip: Use a file to dress up the tips of the metal handle bar so that it fits easily into the new plastic handle end caps. Step #3 : Install the first new plastic handle end cap. Step #4: Slide the metal handle bar into the plastic handle end cap that was just installed on the outer oven door. Step #5: Place the other plastic handle end cap on the metal handle bar. Step #6: Install the second plastic handle end cap on the outer oven door. Step #7: Reassemble the oven door by installing the screws that were removed in step #1.

I took the old cap off, and replaced it with the new one. I am glad I had the sense to buy this online, If I had gotten a repairman to fix this, it probably would have costs $100.00 instead of the $17.00 it cost me to fix it myself. Thanks.

Door Handle End Cap Broke Off
0 of 1 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Lori from Fairfax, VA
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Pliers, Wrench (Adjustable)
Dislodged screws to oven door to get to handle assembly. Fairly easy, however, new door handle end caps do not come with screws and the old screws were not a good fit. Almost stripped the old screw trying to get it in place. Strongly suggest that Part Select send replacement screws with handle to facilitate repair. Door handle is back up but is now loose until I can find/secure appropriate replacement screws and repeat the process all over again.

Broke ed cap on oven door

  • HAROLD from LODI, CA
  • Very Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Screw drivers
Repair was basically simple. Remove 6 screws holding door facing on door, remove one screw holding handle end caps in place. Then reverse the operation installing handle end caps. The problem I had was that the new a end caps had different dimensions than the old ones and the handle wouldn't slip into them. Had to carve away material inside the new caps with an exacto knife in order to fit the handle. The result was a 15 minute job took well over an hour

End caps very difficult to get on the handle bar
0 of 1 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Jim from Southlake, TX
  • Very Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Screw drivers, Wrench set
This the second time in three years the end caps broke. The first time the replacement end caps slid right on but, this time it was an extreemly tight fit. I had to sprsy white greese on the handle bar and inside the end cap and, even then I thought the end caps would break it was so hard to get on.

The door handle end caps did not fit on to the handle far enough. this caused the screw hole spread to be too wide, Also the new end caps had two nipples outside the bolt holes that the original brackets did not have.
  • Michael from South Bend, WA
  • Difficult
  • More than 2 hours
  • Screw drivers
The reason the brackets didn't go on to the handle far enough was there was a molding defect inside one of the brackets. After alot of scraping at the inside of the bracket and lightly tapping with a soft hammer I was able to get the defective bracket on so that the holes lined up to the mounting plate. As for the extra nipples I had two options. Either cut the nipples off or drill some holes in the metal plate that the brackets attach to. I chose the latter. I had to attach the brackets to the plate with extra long screws, reach in under the bracket with a scribe and mark the nipple location on the plate. Then I removed the handle and drilled two holes for each bracket. After some minor adjustments to the holes I was able to attach both brackets and reassemble the oven door.

the wires were not long enough to use the original path.
  • Ronald L. from Cedaredge, CO
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 30 - 60 mins
  • Nutdriver, Screw drivers
the original path was from the right front control knob around the back of the range and left side of range, which i dismantaled to install the new wires to the right front burner. When I found them to be to short I had to also dismantal the right side so the wires could be routed there. The new wires worked fine but did take some extra ti me.
