Start by disconnecting the mixer from its power source and removing the beater and bowl. Take off the rear cover and unscrew the mounting screws from the trim to remove it. Disconnect the wires on the control plate and pry the end seal from the appliance. Remove the fasteners on the control plate to access the governor, which can be wiggled off the shaft using pliers.
