This refrigerator/freezer problem had been escalating for almost a year, requiring me to frequently knock the ice buildup free with a rubber mallet. I finally decided to try to identify the problem by removing the freezer door and all of the shelves and shelf tracks (easily removed with only a phillips screwdriver). Then I removed the bac ... Read more k plastic panel to expose the cooling coils, which were partially encased in ice. I deduced that the evaporator fan motor was failing, which blows air over the freezer cooling coils and forces the cool air up into the upper refrigerator section (which was not staying cold). I then found and ordered the fan motor from part select. Their search function and exploded drawing schematics made it easy to identify the part and part number. It seems the original part number had been superceded with a new number, which I ordered. Once it arrived after about a week, I transferred the fan blades from the old motor to the new fan motor, and after completely drying out the freezer compartment, I reinstalled all of the parts and plugged in the unit and waited. By the next day, the refrigerator was operating at peak efficiency, and the ice buildup in the freezer has not returned. I was very close to scrapping the entire refrigerator as junk, but with a little diagnostic effort and about $110 for the new motor, I have a fully functioning refrigerator again. removed the upper freezer door to access screws to remove lower door.
laid bottom door on its side, removed bad bushing, put new bushing in, put bottom door back on refridge, put upper door back on fridge. Door worked easy as when new. good closure of door and story..Happy customer, and wife even happier.....thank you....

For the right side of the refrigerator door, just pulled off the old gasket and replaced it with the new one. Old gasket came off easily. Just had to pull it off. No screws on the right side. Just pushed the new one in place in the groove on the door.

Once flap was off, pulled the old gasket off and installed the new one just like the right side. Then screwed the flap back on once the gasket was in the groove properly.

Initially after install, it seemed like the magnet on the door was not strong enough but after a couple of days, the magnet seems a lot stronger, sealing the air out. Very happy I replaced it. It was a lot simpler to replace than I thought it would be.

For this model the ice maker is very easy to replace. All it takes is a phillips head screwdriver. There are two wire connections you have to unplug. Easy out easy in. You do not have to disconnect the water line, just make sure the line is lined up correctly when you reinstall the new icemaker. It seems to take approximately 8 hours befo ... If you have this same model, you already know this ice maker is very slow in making ice and is not able to keep up with daily usage of ice for a household of 3.

removed 3 fasteners for top door and placed freezer door aside, then removed 3 more fasteners on bottom refrigerator door and place that aside. replaced bushing on lower door bracket and reversed the above procedure to reinstall doors.

Once I U tubed the the removal and replacement of the gaskets it was super easy. The right gasket change was easy without tools. The left gasket required me to remove the mullion first, which is why I used Utube.

The Ice Maker from Part Select was complete. Plastic housing, Ice maker located at the top and ice cruncher/dispenser at the bottom.
Note: Both the ice maker and the dispenser wiring goes to a common connecter. It is not advisable to plan changing out only one of these.

This is bottom drawer type frige. Icemaker is inside (not in the door) and hard to reach. I first tested the solenoids by disconnecting them and using a test cord, energized them independent of the frige wiring. They worked ok. Note: this frige has (2) solenoids going to the icemaker. And it has (3) solenoids serving the water disp ... Read more enser. The icemaker solenoids are wired in parallel. I removed the icemaker by removing (1) screw from the bottom and loosening (2) on the top. Then removed icemaker as a complete unit disconnecting the wire connector at the same time. On the bench I tested the icemaker to verify it was defective. The wire harness has a 10 amp fuse in the black wire (hot wire). `The fuse was blown. This was sufficient to indicate the icemaker is shot. I did however, do some other tests. Cold resistance of the mold heater was 72 ohms. The timer motor was 4000 ohms. These measurements should be ok. I then activated the icemaker with a test cord, bypassing the blown fuse. The unit cycled one complete rotation then stopped. The mold heater worked. I tested the amp draw on the mold heater and it was only .1 amps. I should be a about .8 amps. I then cycled it again and then the timer motor began to sizzle and smell. Then it smoked and stopped mid-rotation. I then purchased a new icemaker. I believe the mold heater was going bad over time as this unit made ice but very slowly. This put extra strain on the motor as the mold was not releasing quickly. This damaged the motor causing it to fail.

Fortunately, others had left comments about this installation, so proved very helpful. First thing was laying out the gasket flag on the counter to allow it to unbend, get out the kinks from shipping. While the new gasket was laying out on the counter, started removing the old gasket. As it had been there for 11 years, needed pliers to ... Read more get a corner started. I was slow and careful removing the old gasket in case I needed to put it back in. A very helpful suggestion from others was to lightly rub dishwashing soap on the gasket edge that fits in the groove in the door. Again, slow and careful, got it installed, wiped off any excess dishwashing liquid, and the door closed with a better seal in a long time. Pleasantly surprised how easy this was to do!

Watch YouTube videos on this topic if you are uncertain before tackling the job. The right door was easy to replace. Just pull the gasket with your fingers and it will come off easily. Place new gasket over door and use fingers to press it inside the groove few inches at a time. Pay attention to gasket orientation.

The left ... Read more door is a bit harder because you need to remove the mullion at the door edge using a screw driver. Remove two screws on the center hinge and then slide the mullion up to disengage. Then unplug the wires to remove the mullion. Replace the gasket as described above and replace the mullion reversing the directions shown above.

Could not believe how easy it was!

Followed directions that came with the filter. Did remove the top shelf for easier access. Very simple and quick.

Used a screwdriver to take off broken clip and then used same screwdriver to replace with new clip. Very easy.

Took off the French door Mullen by unscrewing middle area. Unconnected the wires for the door sensor. Then detached old gasket and replaced with new gasket. Reattached the wiring and snapped Mullen flap in place and finally rescrewed to the door. Seal is very good now.
