79571043011 Kenmore Freezer - Instructions

Video makes it look easy. Kenmore refrigerator does not have "groove" along the right hand side of switch that allows for pushing down on release. Used a thin screwdriver to get under to push while holding switch edge with pliers. Kept slipping. Tape sides to avoid scratching inside of refrigerator.

I pulled the gasket off and installed the new one. It was very easy. All I had to do was to push the new gasket in place in the grooves in the door. The gasket I received was identical to the one I replaced.

Unscered 2 screws, unplug electrical connection under the screws, slide her flap into grooves, realign screw holes , and rescrew in. Done.

Turn off power, remove upper and lower drawers (may need to open upper refrigerator doors to remove large freezer bin,) remove drawer supports (upper and lower), remove rear freezer panel (trick is to loosen 4 screws on fan bumpout to get the panel to come free from the freezer side wall), test thermistor with multimeter (should have cont ... Read more inuity or near zero resistance across 2 orange fuse wires) before cutting zip ties, cut zip ties holding Thermistor in place, remove old Thermistor, install new Thermistor, install new zip ties, replace rear freezer panel, install upper and lower drawer supports, install drawers, turn on power, should be fixed if error code doesn't return after 6 hours.

So easy I couldn't believe I'd done it so quickly. Two minutes from start to finish. Pull the old one off and press the new one in.

Had to buy the entire door mullion because the spring broke, wasn't happy. Got the new part very quickly and it was a new replacement part number. Somewhat tentative. Read more sconnect the wire harness, throw away the old, get new, connect the wire harness, connect hinges, put in two screws! Super easy. Watch the video for some pointers along the way.

This couldn't have been easier. Two tiny screws in the front needed unscrewed, and then two plastic clips in the middle just had to be popped lose. Finally, you unplugged the power cord. Take out 2 screws and unplug unit before removing. Plug-in new unit and screw in 2 screws. That's it.

Used putty knife to pry out the old gasket, pressed new one in place. Very easy, done quickly. About 10 minutes.

Ordered the Part after looking at the choices shown, once I inspected the unit. I then knew by looks what would fit. THEN (important) went on Utube asking for video instructions. It was SO easy. No clamps or brackets. Grabbed the gasket with pliers to get started removing it - just pull it out of the deep groove inset around the perimeter of the door. Within one minute I had the old gasket removed. Started installing the new gasket by inserting the top right corner 1st (pushing the new gasket profile into the ... You may have to "adjust" a bit by pulling on the gasket but within 5 minutes I had the new gasket in-place never having to turn off the refrigerator. YouTube has great "how-to" videos. It's easy!

When I sent an email about this and asked for a replacement, I was told I would need to send it back. I wrote back and reiterated that the glass was shattered and did they really want me to send it back. I again said just send me the replacement. Instead I got a response that sending it back was not necessary but that I would receive a re ... Read more fund and would need to reorder the part again. The part was $47.91 when I first purchased it. Now to reorder it is $54.98. I saved it in my shopping cart so I can shop around before purchasing this again. I am disgusted that I need to go through this again and now at a higher price. I have more parts to order but am reconsidering do so.

After watching a few iTunes videos I was able to order the light switch from part select and within a week I had the new switch. I had a little trouble getting the switch out. Have had the Sears repairman come to the house to replace this part in 5 minutes for +$100.. twice. When my dad's stopped working, ordered the part and replaced it myself for the cost of the part and shipping.

Switched the refrigerator circuit breaker to off. Put tape around the switch to prevent scratches. Wedged the putty knife into the right side of the switch and pried up.the switch and connector popped out. Removed the connector from the old switch and connected it to the socket in the new switch. Stuffed the new switch and connector back ... Read more into its home. Switched on the circuit breaker. Now we have light in the refrigerator with every opening!
