79571042012 Kenmore Freezer - Instructions

Video makes it look easy. Kenmore refrigerator does not have "groove" along the right hand side of switch that allows for pushing down on release. Used a thin screwdriver to get under to push while holding switch edge with pliers. Kept slipping. Tape sides to avoid scratching inside of refrigerator.

Found the broken spring; matched it with parts diagram. Googled for sources via part number. Selected this site because it had best deal - price, availability, shipping. Part arrived as predicted; installed it in 2 minutes. Job done. Door now works.

Take out 2 screws and unplug unit before removing. Plug-in new unit and screw in 2 screws. That's it.

This couldn't have been easier. Two tiny screws in the front needed unscrewed, and then two plastic clips in the middle just had to be popped lose. Finally, you unplugged the power cord. Insert the top first and then twist to insert bottom

Handyman wanted $457.00 to do the job! HA.

Took 2 screws out , pushed flapper up, unhooked wire connector, reversed to install new door. Less than 5 minutes. So easy , a caveman could do it.

Have had the Sears repairman come to the house to replace this part in 5 minutes for +$100.. twice. When my dad's stopped working, ordered the part and replaced it myself for the cost of the part and shipping.

I followed the directions! It was so easy that I bought another switch for my sister's fridge (same as mine). Her light was out too!

Switched the refrigerator circuit breaker to off. Put tape around the switch to prevent scratches. Wedged the putty knife into the right side of the switch and pried up.the switch and connector popped out. Removed the connector from the old switch and connected it to the socket in the new switch. When I sent an email about this and asked for a replacement, I was told I would need to send it back. I wrote back and reiterated that the glass was shattered and did they really want me to send it back. I again said just send me the replacement. Instead I got a response that sending it back was not necessary but that I would receive a re ... Read more fund and would need to reorder the part again. The part was $47.91 when I first purchased it. Now to reorder it is $54.98. I saved it in my shopping cart so I can shop around before purchasing this again. I am disgusted that I need to go through this again and now at a higher price. I have more parts to order but am reconsidering do so.

I ordered the part from Partselect, received it two days later, installation couldn’t be easier, remove two screws from the hinge and slide the old part out, remember to unhook the electric line. To install just do it in the opposite order.

After watching a few iTunes videos I was able to order the light switch from part select and within a week I had the new switch. I had a little trouble getting the switch out. I used a flat screw driver and taped around the edge to keep from damaging the wall inside. I found the clip on the right side and had to use some force to get it p ... I could not as the spring was too large and did not fit. Calls to Parts Select were not very useful as I described the problem and was told that that was the correct part, even though I supplied photos.

Plug in the replacement ice maker to the socket in the frig, fit the back of the new ice maker into the slot to the rear, attach with 2 screws saved from removing old ice maker. Simple.
