Once I determined the problem to be the ice maker I got on line and came across "Part Select" website, I simply put in the make & model # and I quickly found the part I needed and placed my order, much to my surprise I received the replacement part the next day. The removal and installation was extremely easy, I simply removed two "Allen" ... Read more head screws holding the ice maker in place and removed the unit, next I un-plugged the electrical coupling and removed the ground wire. I installed the new part in the same manner the entire process took me less the 15 minutes, and most importantly we had ice in less then 2 hours.

Remove back door and then shut water of to the refrigerator. Then remove old valve. Have towel ready for excess water when you remove nut to valve. Install new valve screw to refrig. Turn on water and check for leaks.

Easy job. Just don't get the parts from this place. First part was no good and delivered was past deadline after I paid for expedited shipping. Had to get new part delivered which in three days increased in price and then still waited for ten days WITH expedited shipping. Have not been reimbursed for first part that was no good AND my ... Replace with new switch. this is the third switch i have replaced in 10 years. the only part, besides a light bulb, that has gone bad. obviously this is a problem with this model for Kenmore, or just poor switch design.

I took a very thin bladed screwdriver and took the old part out -carefully.
The new part fit in quite easily.

Watched a couple of YouTube videos and then went at it

Part Select had a great video which made the repair easy, using a putty knife to start removing the freeze door gasket. Once removed the install is simple just snap the new gasket into the track, but start at the corner. I found a crack in the pex line from the valve up the back of the refrigerator to the water filter. I could not find the correct 5/16" size line locally to replace it. A guy in plumbing at Home Depot said he always repaired them by cutting out the crack and finding a piece of clear vinyl line that would fit tightly over the cracked pex ... Read more to splice in a fix with hose clamps. I did that and it was a really bad idea. The line was obviously fatigued and failing because it just cracked further up and leaked again. I then looked up and ordered the correct line (actually both the supply and return since they were available). Installing the new lines was a breeze. The pex connectors are simple to disconnect and reconnect. Wish I had done that to start with. I looked for a youtube video for the proper replacement steps but all I found was a video of a guy who cut out a crack and stuck a pex connector in to replace the cracked section. By doing that he pulled slack from the valve end of the line which didn't exist and cracked the line again. I don't know why anyone would mess with patching one of these lines. The correct parts are available, cut to the right length, and removing and replacing them at the valve and the filter is dead simple.

Remove 2 screws swing light down a little bit and pull it to front unplug wires . The hard part of job was finding new replacement light, Partselect.com was only sight I could find that had new replacement number and had the light . Other sites including LG site would only tell me the part number on old lights was discontinued 2 of sites ... Read more said try used appliance dealers

Swapped old one with new one. New one had extra plug not needed.

Followed instructions online

Unplug from wall receptacle. Pry switch out with screwdriver while pushing on inner tab. Then disconnect electrical plug.

The 2 minute or so video was not exactly matching the model that we had but the instructions were very good and important. The switch was a little difficult to get out from the side of the refrigerator.

Just like on YouTube very easy to do

I have moderate to good mechanical skills, but getting the old switch out was a sizeable challenge. Since this switch suffered some damage during extraction, I was lucky to have ordered a new one to replace it. Reinstall took approximately 90 seconds. PartSelect saved me an expensive service call.
