79568 Kenmore - Instructions

I have moderate to good mechanical skills, but getting the old switch out was a sizeable challenge. Since this switch suffered some damage during extraction, I was lucky to have ordered a new one to replace it. Reinstall took approximately 90 seconds. PartSelect saved me an expensive service call.

1. Unplug the refrigerator (to avoid shock) 2. With one screwdriver pry open the switch on the side facing the door to a gap of about 1/8 inch 3. Read more n the sides, 5. Plug in the new switch 6. plug in the refrigerator the light should come on, if not tighten the connection 7. Insert new switch back into its slot, it should snap in place. Done!

I just popped in the new cover lamp. It took less than 5 mins. if that much.

Used a small screw driver inserted into the front of the switch (facing the front) and pried until the switch was coming out. When out, I removed the connect harness and replace the switch with a new one.

My son just pried out the old switch with a screw driver snapped out the old one and snapped in the new one. Pretty sure even I could have done this. Very quick and easy. Thanks. :-)

Reinstalled glass shelf in crisper shelf frame

Cover the putty knife with tape so you do not scratch the side wall where the switch is located. Slide the knife under the edge of the switch and push in a bit towards the switch and slightly twist to pop the switch out of its hole. Unplugged the fridge. Used a screwdriver to loosen the switch. Easy to disconnect from fridge and just plugged the new switch in. Popped right back into the side of the fridge and worked perfectly.

I popped the old switch out of place and then disconnected the wire harness from the switch with a pair of needle nose pliers. I then inserted the harness into the new switch and popped the switch into place. Super easy and fast.

I was told the mother board went out. Took a few months to finally get one myself after repairman didn't come through. It was the freezer fan but even after installing it nothing would work is why we ordered the controller assembly. after 2 days and about 7 hours of checking, taking apart, rechecking assembling by my determined electrician it turned out to be a loose wire. LOL hope this helps someone. I'm just glad to have my fridge again! Blessings!!!

IMPORTANT: REPAIR EASIER WITH ASSISTANT! Pull frig from kitchen cabinets & unplug. Remove food from freezer & frig doors. Have assistant hold freezer door closed against freezer. Remove hinge cap from top of freezer along with hardware using socket wrench. Carefully lift freezer door from hardware that joins the bottom of the freezer door ... Read more to the top of the frig door. Rest freezer door upright off to the side. Have assistant open frig door & SUPPORT BOTTOM. Remove hardware from top of frig using crescent wrench & screwdriver. Carefully lift frig door off joint & lay on side to gain access to hardware on bottom. Remove hardware using a screwdriver & replace worn nylon bushing. Reverse disassembly steps. Remove frig & freezer door shelves & clean inside. Clean outside frig, especially the back vents. Clean the floor where frig lives & push back into place. Enjoy clean SELF-CLOSING, NON-GRINDING frig door!

unfortunately my fridge stopped working. I purchased another but wanted to try and repair the old one. when ew one arrived, the old one was supposed to be put in garage but instead was hauled away. Had delivery return next day but they had as already removed and lost the handle screw for the bottom freezer and the screw that holds handle ... Read more in place. ordered the handle screw and picked up the nut. very simple to install the screw and put handle back on.
